So, I had taken a few days off work and decided to go to my "happy place" - St Andrews - a place I have loved visiting for many, many years. I've stayed in many places in the East Neuk from B&B, hotels and self-catering flats / cottages. There are many top end hotels that charge the earth (we all know who you are lol) and cheap places that deserve a slap for the quality of service they offer. Greyfriars Inn on North Street is a place I have visited over the years - either for a drink or a meal. It's location is perfect as everything is within easy walking distance. If you're lucky, there is free parking next door, but the long stay carpark is free and only a 5 minute walk away. The booking process was easy and hassle free - a superior double room for £130 with free cancellation with 24 hours notice. When I arrived, I knew I was too early to check in but had a pint in the bar. Staff were super friendly and good humoured and good natured - happy to chat and offer the best servicer possible. The food and drinks have always been excellent here and the place is always popular with golfers and tourists. When I did check in, it was very reassuring that people could only access the rooms with the fob pass key - a small detail but one that families may want to consider when booking a hotel as security is important. The check-in process was quick and easy and was done in no time. When I got into my room, I could not believe the quality. A room on the corner of the building with two huge windows - a glorious feature that we sometimes over look. The room was huge with everything you could wish for. King-size bed, massive SMART TV, every facility you could want including power points for foreign tourists. The room itself was absolutely spotless and housekeeping should be very proud of the high standards that they set. There maybe a pub below the rooms but sound was never an issue. I must make special mention of the staff. They sum up what hospitality is all about - friendly, caring, helpful and no request was a problem - they are a credit to themselves and to business they represent. In today's society, it is all to easy to criticise but we forget to give praise where it is due and this establishment deserves praise on every level. Thank you, all, for a wonderful stay and I hope you go from strength to strength.

Spent a 3 night break at Greyfriars whilst golfing at St Andrews. The hotel is in a great location 5 minutes stroll from all the golf courses, university, sea front and centre of town with all its bars and restaurants. Great value, comfortable and clean rooms. Fab breakfast with everything on offer including a tasty Scottish full breakfast. Hotel doubles as a busy bar, well stocked. All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, special mention to Fiona who excelled. Would definitely return

Spent the nights of 3 & 4 Feb in the Greyfriars Inn St Andrews . I believe ,based on our experience of these nights, a glowing endorsement of this establishment is highly warranted. Firstly ,if you are travelling by bus, Greyfriars Inn is 5 mins from the Bus Station . super ideal if it's not a nice day . Secondly . The bar side of the inn is great . It's low ceilings give it a warm feeling .Its very nicely decorated (being as it's in St. Andrews there is golf memorabilia plenty ) The staff ,surely the mark of many a great pub, were FANTASTIC . Big kudos to Fiona & all the other staff who made our stay so memorable (especially the girl who cross the Tay bridge from Menzieshill to Fife for Love ) Have our room right above the Greyfriars Inn made the booking so worth while . There was never a sense, as often is the case when in a hotel , of sitting in a boring hotel bar. The food was first class all round .Portion sizes were generous .The breakfasts were hand made ,hot and plentiful .Not sitting under heated lights ,dripping in their own grease. The rooms were nicely sized too. The beds too were comfy .The area outside was also quiet at night time . There's a lift from the ground floor up to the second floor . All in all 10 outta 10 . Unless they are fully booked ,next time we visit it'll be The Greyfriars Inn or we'll not be staying Thanks for everything Greyfriars Grant & Irene

We went a walk and saw this place. We called in for afternoon drinks and then again the same night for dinner and drinks. The food was delicious and staff very nice. It is very reasonably priced and portions are quite large. We had a starter and main but couldn’t manage a dessert. Plenty of choice for food and drink. It was an extreme busy place. No need to reserve a table. They allow walk ins and serve food until 9pm

Lovely 3 night stay for a family wedding. Family room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Had a small issue with loose toilet seat. Breakfast was lovely and filling. Had two evening meals which were delicious and good value. Service was superb. Special mention to Fiona who was hospitable, super efficient and really helpful. She booked and amended our taxi, catered for our breakfast requirements faultlessly.

We had drinks and food in this little gem on a very rainy Saturday afternoon. We booked a table ( best to do this) and they rolled out the ramp for my husband’s mobility scooter with a smie. The staff were wonderful and a special call out to Fiona for looking after us so well. We will definitely be back!
