I stayed in Kariba Guest House with two friends during the Easter weekend and none of us would ever come back or recommend it. I was freezing at night even using two extra banquets (I complained and they said they could only give me banquets as it was central heating only working few hours a day), the breakfast was poor... Had a great stay at Kariba for the rugby weekend. Lovely room, friendly and helpful staff and what a breakfast! Good value for close to the center of Edinburgh. There is a bus stop right outside the door if you are feeling lazy too. We hope to be back

My wife and I are from Austin, TX and have attended every Edinburgh International Harp Festival over the last decade except one, so we know this guest house quite well. The location is ideal, the rooms are cozy but all the upstairs rooms are en suite, and the food is excellent. As an example of their hospitality, one year we... More

The location of the Kariba is perfect good bus links into town and no far from Haymarket Station. But no full English breakfast only eggs and bacon and cereals and jam, chocolate spread and so on. The bedroom lovely high ceilings but at night I was so cold I put 7 layers on to keep me warm. The cleaners would... More

We are some what surprised and saddened by this review as at no time during the guests stay did she comment or complain about any of the points raised in her review. Guests are reminded when they check in that if they have any concerns or issues to let us know so that any problems can be rectified immediately, also... More

The room was big and clean. Though the beds were rock hard and the room was cold. The breakfast was average. there is a bus stop right outside that two bus routes go to the city from. They only take exact or more coins. 1.40 for one way or 3. 50 for a day pass.

Me and my bf were there last weekend and we stayed really well. The room was clean and with big, tipical windows. Well, the bathroom was a small room in the room but it works. We enjoyed nice breakfasts and we racommended it if you would like to spend your time in a guest house near the centre (20 min.... More

I had the pleasure of staying at the Kariba Guest House for two nights in October 2012. The location is good as it's a short walk to Haymarket, and on a sufficiently quiet street. The breakfast was superb (best bacon I have ever had), and the room was clean and very comfortable. The wireless internet worked perfectly and by all... More

Had a lovely stay at the Kariba. The manager was very friendly and helpful with her recommendations. The guesthouse was central with a regular bus service that stopped right outside the door. The room was clean and the breakfast was amazing, lots of variety and catered for coeliac. Will definitely stay again.

Kariba was a great find. Lovely, friendly guesthouse in central Edinburgh. Close to centre- only 20 mins walking. The big downside is that the breakfast was so good that I ended up putting on half a stone! I will be back
