Maria at the Abcorn was delightful and very helpful as was her father. Our first evening we asked if she would recommend a place to eat that "if you are in Edingburgh for the first time it's the must eat place.. . The Whiski on High St was her pick. We walked the short mile to High St on found... More

We stayed at the Abcorn Guest House in Spetember 2011 - there was just 2 of us. The Guest House was easy to find and in a good location. There was an abundance of buses running into the City Centre and they run until quite late on the way back. Maria and family are really friendly and there's a real... More

With a bus stop outside the door it was easy to access the city. Naturally, that contributed to traffic noise but not offensive. We didn't realize there was no heat during the night but since the weather was mild it was not a problem, although we are early risers and had to bundle up before 8 a.m. The breakfast is... More

Overall I have no complaints about the Abcorn although a travelling partner stayed in the single room which was like a box room with the tiniest bathroom/toilet I've seen, not comfortable at all. I stayed in a larger double room and everything was great. Fantastic service, lovely breakfast and good location, I would recommend it. More

We've stayed at the Abcorn many times while visiting family and friends in Edinburgh, and on several occasions taken Festival-visiting friends with us. Family-run, by local people with excellent knowledge of the city and its attractions, it has become our 'home from home'. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, a warm welcome is assured, and the regular return of... More

I booked at the Abcorn based partly on reviews and booked 2 nights, stayed one. It was clean enough but I found it depressing myself as did my Wife who is an unfussy person. The decor was old, varnished pine bedside cupboards and headboard were very dated and the minimum has been spent and even then that was a long... More
