Very friendly host - large choice of continental breakfast in lovely dining room - bedroom very small with cramped bathroom but comfortable beds- parking for three cars only and space tight - but great value. more

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for the last weekend of the festival, 2 nights. Davey and Susan were great hosts, an extremely welcoming, down to earth couple. We had the room (number 3) described in a previous post as a 'coffin' I'd read this review before we stayed there and it had induced some worries, however, I don't believe... more

We sayed at the Sherwood for 3 nights last weekend & had rooms 3 & 6. They were spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the house. The rooms are a bit on the small side but are very well equipped & more than adequate for the amount of time spent in there. The breakfast is superb with a great... more

Room 3 is so tiny. It was like waking up and finding you had been buried alive. When you tried to dry ur toes in the en suite you would hit ur head on the sink and ur bum on the door. Claustrophobics beware more

Management response from
edinburghsherwood, Owner ; Susan Greig

In response to our most recent review. I was hurt and extremely upset by the heading. We are both very aware that our rooms are small, but we did not build the house. What we have done is our very, very best to make it as comfortable and welcoming as we possibly can to provide our guests with everything they...

The only gripe I have about The Sherwood is the room size (oh, and the the fact that our bed was unmade on the second night.......) Basically it cost £80 - this is during the Festival- for a room (room 3) approx 8ft by 13 feet in total (and that includes the en-suite...) My boyfriend and I had to take... more

We really like the room very much. It is clean and nicely set up. The shower room is a bit small as expected of a guest house but it is very clean and it has everything that we need. The dinner room is one of the most beautiful one we even seen. The location is just right, within walking distance... more

We (mother & daughter) stayed 4 nights at this wonderful B&B located just barely outside the Royal Mile. This B&B is well within walking distance (took us about 20 minutes) of the Royal Mile, or just a quick (5 minutes) bus ride. Bus stop location just outside, with buses going everywhere from Roslyn Chapel to Royal Mile, every few minutes.... more

David and Susan are the perfect hosts. You will find all you need and more. This really is the place to stay for comfort, cleanliness, perfection, a thoroughly warm welcome and so central to Edinburgh. A great point of note, there is parking space available without extra cost - a positive bonus in Edinburgh. Not the tradtional breakfast - rather... more

we ( the wife and 2 kids aged 17 and 15 ) just spent Friday and Saturday night at the Sherwood. The family room we had was nicely decorated and very spacious. it had a microwave and fridge which is great for feeding snacks to 2 teenage boys who do nothing but eat. The guest house is very close to... more

some friends had stayed on spec and recommended the guest house to me and my boyfriend. we stayed there the weekend after Easter and had an absolutely lovely time. The rooms are not big but they have everything you could want, even an iron. Our room had a little fridge which we found very handy. The breakfast isnt cooked but... more
