We had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing break in Edinburgh partly thanks to our choice of accommodation. The guesthouse is in a good location for the city centre, the rooms are spacious and warm, the breakfasts were excellent and Norrie and Marion are the perfect hosts who know how to make you feel welcome. Many thanks. more

We would like to say a very big Thank You to Marion and Norman for their hospitality last weekend. The McDonald Guesthouse is a step above any Guesthouse and many Hotels we have stayed in. The location is perfect and do go to the restaurants and pubs recommended by Marion and Norman, the seafood pasta at Jollys was the best... more

Within an easy walk of the Royal Mile and train station, I am happy to say that the MacDonald has much more than location in in favour! The lovely Heather (who was running the B&B while Marion, the owner, was away on holiday) looked after me brilliantly during my stay - weather it was the exceptional breakfast (the porridge and... more

Location is great. Just £1.40 on one of the many and frequent buses from the end of the road or just a £5 taxi ride from Waverley train station, Royal mile or Princes Street. The owners are very helpful and really nice people. Breakfast is vast, varied and very nice (i tried Haggis for the first time). The Rooms are... more

Conveniently located only a short walk from the Royal Mile, the McDonald Guest house was a perfect choice for our visit to Edinburgh. Marion and Norman are excellent hosts, very helpful in giving recommendations and directions, and the breakfasts, with choices ranging from full Scottish breakfast to croissants, were wonderful. Restaurants were an easy walk, as was the castle and... more

We (3 friends) have been there for 2 nights. The triple room was spacy and the scottish breakfast ideal to start the journey. Marion and Norman are marvelous hosts and real kind. In walking distance from the Center (+/- 15 min), the location is ideal to discover Edinburgh. We loved the place and would highly recommand it to anyone wanting... more

Marion and Norman are really warm and friendly, and were great hosts! They provided useful information about the city, places of interest and dining places. The triple room that we had was cozy and really lovely. Overall, we had a superb experience with The McDonald Guesthouse, and its a pity that our stay was so short. We'll definitely choose to... more

I stayed here for two nights with my fifteen year old daughter. We were visiting the Fringe. The guesthouse was lovely and clean and the owners could not have been nicer. Marion and her husband were very friendly and helpful. The position of the guest house was great and the centre was within walkable distance. I will definitely return next... more
