Found this hotel very cosy and friendly. It is privately owned and you can tell the pride that the owners have for their hotel. Breakfast is lovely and I believe they do a fixed menu at a set price on request. My room was very clean and cosy. I was in the area on business and would certainly return to... More

This is my second visit to Gladstone house and this time I brought my Mum and my sister to share in the wonderful experience of staying there. The house is beautiful, the rooms full of character and very cosy and the breakfast is legendary, I could wax lyrical on that alone. However my favourite part of my stay is always... More

Stayed for 3 nights in October, b and b is in perfect place in the town and is so welcoming, clean, fresh, within an amazingly authentic georgian house. So much to do nearby and you will feel so welcome by the owners who are lovely. A wonderful bonus is that freshly made bread, good coffee, and a talented chef make... More

Alas, we only stayed for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the town and the Selkirk for dinner (recommended by Gordon-always check how current the recommendations are - staff change). Gladstone House is a beautiful building, with a fine collection of Gordon and Hillary's art finds and a suberb lounge to relax in after being out all day. Breakfast... More

This was our second stay with the Cowans (no relation). As before we were received right royally, accommodated in a delightful top flat room with great views along the High Street, set above the gracious drawing room in which we were given afternoon tea on our arrival. The traditonal Scottish breakfast was rich in options - and encouragement to sample... More

Staying here was a real pleasure. Hilary and Gordon gave us a warm welcome ( with G & T) ; bedroom was well equipped and bed comfortable; breakfast was brilliant; parking outside the door. We could not have expected more. More

Last minute booking for one night - room decor very tasteful with nice deep bath in en suite. Lovely location just a short walk to local resauraunts and harbour. Very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast lovely with wide selection of fruits available in addition to full cooked breakfast including haggis and black pudding! Only disappointment was very creaky and uncomfortable... More

On our arrival we were greeted as if old friends returning - no formality but genuine warmth. Shown round the beautifully appointed rooms in the house and then taken to our room which was superb with views over the rooftops to the hills beyond. We were then invited to the lounge for afternoon tea and cake beside the cosy fire.... More

Beautiful rooms and kind, welcoming hosts. A lovely retreat in the peaceful little town of Kirkcudbright, just a few minutes walk from the harbour and restaurants, and around the corner from the Tollbooth Arts Centre and nearby craft shops. Gordon's breakfasts are jovial and memorable affairs ! More

We stayed at Gladstone house in October and were lucky enough to hit Kirkudbright at a quiet time but with fantastic weather. Gladstone house is a fantastic B and B with everything to the highest standards. The rooms, the giant guest lounge, the food and especially the service. We felt more like house guests than paying guests. More
