From arrival to departure , the hospitality was excellent. As soon as we walked in, tea was offered--and cake too. in the elegant and comfortable residents lounge. After settling in , Gordon and Hillary told us about local attractions , and where to buy wine if we wanted it with dinner. Dinner was good-- excellent quality food and mainly local... more

My boyfriend and I have just returned from our third visit to Gladstone House which continues to provide everything that a visitor to Kirkcudbright could want, so much so that I have to keep going back to remind myself how much I like it! The guest house is set within the walls of a beautiful and very elegant Georgian House... more

As a party comprising myself and senior parents, we recently had a couple of nights at Gladstone House and enjoyed our stay there immensely. Upon arrival, Hilary made us feel very welcome by offering tea and cake in the lovely guest lounge while letting us know what Kirkcudbright and the surrounding area had to offer. Though Gladstone House is situated... more

My wife and I stayed in Gladstone House for three nights in May 2007. We had a wonderful time and intend to return. It is excellent for these reasons: -the owners demonstrate genuine passion for their customers, taking care to meet individual needs in a thoughtful, friendly yet unobtrusive way : for example, providing guidance on what to do and... more

Spent 2 nights here at Easter. Gordon welcomed us with coffee, cake and chat. We had twin room, overlooking a quiet street. Tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and sunny in the mornings. Residents lounge was equiped with plenty reading material, music CDs and Scrabble etc. Maps were available to borrow if required. Gordon & Hilary were excellent hosts who have thought... more

What a lovely place! We found it through the recommendation in the Rough Guide to Scotland, but only because our first choice of B&B did not reply to my e-mail. This was lucky for us, because I cannot imagine we could have done better. Big, spotless, thoroughly comfortable rooms. Superlative welcome (I should have asked the recipe for that orange... more

Hillary and Gordon made us most welcome. The cup of tea with bikkies and an unhurried chat on arrival was a nice touch. Our room had everything we needed and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was great and the cheerfulness and humour of our hosts made a great start to the day. Parking was readily available outside and it... more

It is hard to find a couple that makes your trip as enjoyable as Gordon and Hillary do. We got laughing in the morning and it got our day started just right. The location is ideal for walking through town and the rooms are immaculate. more

A bit late writing this review...but wanted to review the Gladstone House in Kircudbright because we really had a lovely time there. We wanted to tour the southern Scottish coast and had heard that Kirkcudbright was quite sweet, so we booked a night over Valentines Day weekend. The house was set in a perfect and quiet part of town. Our... more
