We stayed in The George Hotel in Inveraray for two nights (19th & 20th May). The Hotel is situated in the centre of the town and has a small car park at the rear. It was founded during the reign of George 1 in 1720.It was taken over by the Clark family in 1860, and they still own it quite... More

This is how pubs should be in this part of the world. A maze of snugs, corridors and atmospheres of choice. The food was spot on. The smoked hake with mash was superb. My wife had the best venison ever. Kids devoured homemade burger and goats cheese salad. Staff were very friendly. Wish I was going to the food festival... More

we visited on a friday lunchtime, place was starting to fill up but we managed to get a table straight away. people arriving just after us had to have a drink at the bar while other diners finished up. prompt service, decent selection on menu, snacks and main meals. Food was lovely, as always in here, great atmosphere with the... More

Thankyou to the George Hotel for a fabulous start to our holiday in Scotland. No doubt from the website about what to expect, good or bad ie it was clear that the rooms have "character" and we were not disappointed. Big and spacious room, fascinating bathroom, great service throughout - in the bar, in the restaurant, at breakfast, and at... More

Have been here several times before and had lovely food and excellent service. This sadly was not the case this time, waited at least 30 mins for our food to come and when it did it could not be accused of being piping hot. Watress asked if we would like sweets and then didn't bring the sweet menu. Very average... More

A stop at The George in Inveraray is travelling back in time: you could be in the 19th century, or maybe the 18th century when you walk in on the pub side. Thick walls of stone, small windows, a good fireplace, a proper Scottish ale or maybe a whisky from the collection. There could be rain or sleet or snow... More

Been to the George many times before and always been happy with the service and good food! It's always busy with a good atmosphere. However, yesterday I hope was just an off day. It was very quiet so you'd expect service to be slick. Order was taken quickly and starter delivered at a good pace. However, drinks sat on the... More

Visited this hotel for one night with 3 friends. We are all mature women and were celebrating a 60th birthday. We did not get in till 2'30pm The rooms were very old fashioned and not at all clean. The noise late at night was more like a hostel than a hotel. Dinner was expensive and very average . My friends... More

Stopped in here for lunch whilst waiting on check in at local hotel. Lovely warm old rustic hotel with lots of charm ( log fires burning ) Very busy with tourists on a wet day in May. Menu had lots of choice but mainly all fish orientated with local produce which you would expect but as i am not a... More
