I attended a golden wedding anniversary celebration here. I have no experience of the accommodation, but the food and service that we received during our visit was outstanding. The staff were very professional, frendly and helpful. Being spoilt for choice in Edinburgh, it was great to find this quality of food from a small hotel in Forfar; managing to serve... More

I seek out smaller non chain hotels when I am travelling for work. Invariably the stay is so much more memorable. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but at least it is different! Thankfully this was one of the good ones. The quality of the rooms and the food is probably way above other offerings in the town. I chose to stay... More

Enjoyable clean and smart hotel with parking at the rear. Warm welcome and very attentive and helpful staff. Good quality en-suite bedrooms, a couple more coathangers would be good. Excellent Head Chef can cope with any amount of covers and clearly this is the best restaurant in Forfar. Book to ensure a table or the locals will beat you to... More

I always write honest reviews for hotels, and I'm sure if the owners read this they will remember me. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights recently as part of 40th Anniversary trip as we lived in Forfar for 5 years back in the 70s. Forfar is not endowed with good hotels and the Chapelbank is probably the... More

We have been eating out in Chapelbank since it was re launched a couple of years ago, we have never had a bad meal or service. So when my partner turned 30 it was the only choice for a family gathering. Owners Susan & Dave have a "no problem" attitude when it comes to customer service and were great at... More

We stayed for one night to attend the Glamis Extravaganza, the room was huge! and really clean and nicely decorated, we didn't manage to eat in the bistro but all the tables were full with guests. Had a lovely sleep and the bed was mega comfy, breakfast was from 7am till 10am, which is great if you don't want a... More

Hi there, We have had many a meal here in the past incorporating an array of owners. The current ones have no idea in service or people skills. The food tries to be special but falls at many hurdles. Would we go back, yes under new owners. More

The thing is when the sign on the outside has 4 large gold star's then say's "self Certified" underneath in small letters you have to wonder. Still a nice enough place to stay with an excellent breakfast. Boutique however it is not; dried flowers on the only shelf in the bathroom and odd coloured towels, stacks of dining room chairs... We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the chapelbank. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and cheerful. Our room was huge, looking out over the main road. It was spotless and tastefully decorated. We had a great breakfast every morning, with smoked salmon, duck eggs and local smokies on offer. I would happily stay there again. More

Our first visit to the Bistro of Chapelbank House and it certainly won't be our last! . Since the demise of Castleton House, the Forfar/Brechin area hasn't really had any fine dining venues. But with the addition of chef Colin Hunter, it is now possible to enjoy really good food at REASONABLE prices.... and without having to trek along dark... More
