I arrived late and wet on a motorbike and in the dark, and had to leave next morning in the sunrise for an early job interview, but the whole experience was perfect. January, North-East Scotland - and the only guest brave enough to venture here at this time of year, but the radiators were warm enough to dry my leathers... More

If you love good scenery with your relaxed getaway, Rattray Head does both well. I stayed in the hostel for 5 days and wished I'd scheduled more time there, even if it was winter! Just 5 minute's walk from 11 miles of secluded beach with plenty to explore if you're a nature lover. The owner, Rob, was friendly, flexible and... More

Hope your car has a good suspension. To reach the accomadation you have to travel along a farm track with many many potholes for about 1 mile. When I arrived I was greeted with a friendly welcome by the owner Rob and his 2 dogs. Rob took me into the main building the old lighthouse keeper cottages, built in 1892.... More

If you are looking for a holiday that embraces nature, quirky accommodation and outstanding natural beauty, where kids and dogs are welcome, this is for you. We had a family room for a week in August. There are two of these downstairs in the old lighthouse keepers house. Both rooms have their own bathroom. The accommodation is basic as it's... More

The hostel/B&B is in a very cool location, surrounded by the coastal nature! Very friendly place for a weekend with great walking on the beautiful beach with the lighthouse in the middle of the sea (amazing on the night!) !...just at half hour from Aberdeen! More

Stayed here one night to visit the nearby RSPB site. Excellent hostel accomodation in a stunning beach location. The Bird watching is excellent too. Hostel was warm and cosy and the owners was very welcoming and helpful. More

Rob made us feel very welcome and even gave us some of their own milk when we realised that we'd not got any with our groceries. Importantly, he was not intrusive or fussy, just helpful and friendly. The inside was warm, clean and spacious, don't be put off by the aging exterior, i understand that there is an ongoing programme... More

This hostel is in a former lighthouse accommodation block. Set right on a deserted dune filled beach which extends for miles. The accommodation is basic but very comfortable and relaxed, with plenty of space. Well equipped kitchens, sitting areas and bathrooms. The views are stunning and wildlife abundant. There is something great about looking out of your bedroom window at... More

Stayed three nights while on a cycling tour and enjoyed it very much. First impression on arriving in the drizzle was a bit disappointing, but it's got cosy rooms, not an institutional feel, and the views outside are always changing with the weather. You might struggle if you try ambitious cooking and it might be a bit cramped if very... More

The Owners are friendly and make a real effort to keep their business eco-friendly. The location is lovely and scenic. Wish I had been there in the summer rather than when there was snow on the ground. Great Value as well. More
