We went here as a group of 6 on Saturday for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my aunt's birthday. The room really is spectacular and beautiful. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was all delicious as was the pink champagne. We were all given boxes to bring home any uneaten food which I thought was a nice touch... More

The King-bed room was very comfortable and quiet, as requested. The service - particularly from the Concierge desk - was excellent throughout the hotel. The public rooms are impressive and serve their purpose well. We would certainly stay here again.

We stayed in a GBP153 king bed room - sofa, side chair, cocktail table, desk, large flat screen TV, large windows (w/ privacy/blackout drapes), all the accoutrements including terry robes. Bathtub with spigot and hand-held sprayer, separate roomy glassed-in shower with slow stream shower and separate stronger h/h sprayer. Toilet, no bidet. They make up your room in the morning,... the highlight of this hotel must be dinner is its fantastic dining room. Luxurious surroundings, great staff, fantastic menu and food. Cocktail bar is lively and fun at the weekend if rather expensive. Rooms are clean and comfortable although we did have issues from noise which seemed to come from the night club directly across the street.

It's a very well maintained hotel with well-trained staff and beautiful decor. Sometimes pricing and policy take precedence over the customer, but in Belfast you get the impression that "appearances" are more important than base-line customer service generally, so this place is forgiven. The rooms are lovely and the place seemed fairly well soundproofed from the outside nocturnal nonsense.

The first ever time we stayed at the Merchant it was brilliant and i wrote a brilliant review. This time however we were very disappointed!!!! It has been extended and the service is terrible. We waited over an hour for our evening meal in the Great Dining room. The lounges were packed with people from the street and there was... More

Did not stay in the hotel just went for a cocktail in the bar. Beautiful building with a very elegant feel to it. The bar was lovely, very posh but cosy. The cocktail menu is impressive and difficult to choose from as they all sounded good. Waiter took order at table and also brought over complimentary olives, cracker things and... More

From the fantastic, professional, attentive and discreet massage and service to the well lit & thought out, steam/sauna, hydro pool & relaxation room this is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. We didn't stay at the hotel just had a one hour full body Swedish style massage and used the spa facilities. It was value for money, brilliant location... More
