Peter and Barbara were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were kept spotlessly clean and fresh. Breakfasts were wonderful and good choices. Situation was perfect, peacefully sitting on the canal bank and yet near to town. Plenty of places to eat and visit in the surrounding area. We would certainly go again and recommend it... More

We had planned a short break away to celebrate my husband's birthday and wanted something 'a bit special'. We were not disappointed! We found the house very easily and were welcomed by both Peter and Barbara who were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was excellent, well proportioned, very clean and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was sparklingly clean and the... More

We were thrilled to get your review and even more delighted that you enjoyed yourselves here at Canal Bank. You are quite right in appreciating the location of Canal Bank - it is so easy and pleasant to stroll into the town via the canal towpath and have such good eating places just minutes away! We hope to welcome you... More

This was a surprise weekend getaway planned by my husband and what a lovely one it was! Peter was a welcoming host even though we arrived quite late in the evening. We settled in for the night and were welcomed in the morning by the most fantastic breakfast - Barbara is quite a whiz at the kitchen and for the... More

Really lovely B&B. Easy walk into the town. Brecon is really well located for walking, near Hay on Wye etc. Delicious breakfasts (with some more interesting choices like smoked salmon/scrambled egg on muffin; welsh laverbread with talgarth ham, homemade breads as well as the more usual things like full cooked breakfast etc. High quality linen/bed/pillows (which makes a pleasant change... We stayed here in a group of 5 as part of a weekend of hiking and had an absolutely terrific stay. The location is perfect relative to walking in/out of the town (without being too close) but is also easy to drive out of town for hiking or other locations. The accomodation itself was to a very high standard for... More

A lovely place to stay. Was offered the choice of 3 rooms, and went for the one overlooking the fields at the back, with the apparently slightly smaller bedroom, but larger bathroom. Room was a great size, bathroom was fabulous - especially the spa bath after a good day's walking :-) Plenty of choice for breakfast, and only a short... More

Good location, a short stroll from town; friendly but not intrusive hosts; fantastically comfortable beds with all-cotton sheets and down duvets. Best thing: wonderful breakfasts with lots of unusual choices I'd never tried before. Recommend the prawn and haddock kedgeree to set you up for a day's hike. More

We stayed at canal bank in early November, after reading several good reviews. We certainly weren't disappointed. The jacksons have really created a luxurious and cosy b and b, in perfect proximity to explore the brecon beacons. Our room was superb, so clean. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the spa bath such a welcome treat after a day rambling.... More

Peter and I would like to thank you both for this review (and also the previous reviewers to whom we have not written a response). We know that time rushes by and when you get home there are millions of other things to think about, especially when you have to be at work the next day. We also know who... More

Spacious, comfortable, clean and well equipped en-suite room. Superb breakfast (for both omnivores and vegetarians). Very friendly and helpful owners (lots of walking suggestions). One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in! More

We only stayed two nights at Canal Bank, but wish we could have stayed longer. We chose Room 1 which is at the front of the b&b, overlooking the canal. It had a spa bath and powerful shower, really comfy bed and the usual tea/coffee facilities. There was a good choice for breakfast and included Barbara's home made bread, jam... More
