We last stayed at this hotel over 3 years ago and called again on spec to break up our journey. We had a standard room which had been partly refurbished, at least the bedroom had, the en-suite however had a dated 'Avocado suite', was dark and dismal and the electric shower did not heat the water. Hot, exposed pipework running... more

Arrived on the Friday evening, checked in without any problems and directed to our room. Room had a slightly odd layout, in that they have built the bathroom over one third of the window giving the room a tunnel like feeling. The room looked like it was recently refurbished and was in a good condition. It contained a double and... more

I love the way this place has been improved, decor etc. It does need tweaks (eg a plastic bin in a beautiful ensuite room. But not the worst thing in life) They are clearly settling in, from conversations between staff, so maybe some tensions/delays/clunkiness from this. Food was great. Definately recommend this. Staff friendly, helpful - but when they disappear... more

At over £100 a night I expect, (but rarely get!) good service, clean bedding and a room with TV's and showers that work. Of course the Holiday Inn's and Hiltons of this world nearly always fail to achieve this, however, in a comparatively small independant run hotel, how difficult can this be? Apparently very difficult in the case of this... more

Our rooms were tiny, badly lit, very shabby with peeling paint and cracked plaster and incredibly noisy. The bedroom doors are sprung so that every time someone went in or out of a room along the corridor, their door slammed and my room shook - there seems to be no soundproofing at all. Some of the staff were good, some... more

There are good things about this hotel but many small bad things which cumulatively make a stay here irritating. The 2 main problems relate to a gap in management leadership and an attempt to cut corners on costs that ends up leaving this guest feeling somewhat exploited. We booked a superior room for a 3 night stay,£100 per night to include... more

Stayed here in June when the hotel was in the process of being updated. The rooms were comfortable and clean with good sized bathrooms and plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The staff are very welcoming and very willing to help. The breakfast is really good with plenty of choice to fill you up if you are going... more

I will be going to bed early tonight to catch up on the sleep missed last night while staying in this place. Room 24 - directly above the bar, is certainly one to be avoided. But then there was almost as much noise from the room above. Bed and linen were fine but the room decor badly needs updating. There... more

We stayed one night to attend a private event nearby. The hotel is under new management and they are endeavoring to upgrade some of the facilities and rooms. Our room was spacious and very clean with crisp ironed bed sheets. The bed was really comfortable. The bathroom and shower were fine and there were complementary products and shower caps as... more

The staff could not be more helpful and friendly . I found the layout of the bar and lounge area was ideal for us as a large party. Our room was clean and compact with great views over Brecon and the Beacons. Breakfast was served efficiently and the staff did not mind catering for some late comers. All in all... more
