Had a lovely spotlessly clean room with a panoramic view of the river. It had a large bathroom with easy to use shower. Tea and cofffe with replacements. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast buffet was superb and we dined in the restaurant both nights and enjoyed excellent food and service. It is situated right in the...

What a God-forsaken flea-pit,Though admittedly the staff are generally accomodating and hard working.I`m thinking that perhaps in better weather(and in daylight) it might well appear better, but after a 12hr working day is it too much to ask for heat, working lights/kettle/door lock etc. and a shower that flows faster than just a trickle.I shall not divulge their attempt at blatant extortion!...

We held a good small conference (60 pax) in November in the Hand Hotel.
The staff were very helpful, good food, reasonable bedrooms, stunning setting and suitable conference rooms & facilities.
All, our requests were cheerfully met by the efficient staff.
Some bedrooms are a bit dated.
All in all excellent value for money.

Very warm, welcoming hotel with very friendly staff. Our room was at the side overlooking the churchyard - very quiet! The beds were very comfy & our only gripe was a bit of wallpaper needed sticking...

My wife and I stayed four nights in October 2011. We could not really fault the hotel. It is an historic coaching inn right in the town centre and I believe some of the less favourable reviews have been due to people failing to make allowances for the need to reconcile moderrn conveniences with the historic structure. We did not...

The hotel is full of character with stunning views from my room, i stayed with a group of friends, my room which was a single room had all the facilities you would expect, tea making facilities, tv, shower, bath ect: the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, we were well looked after, we stayed for dinner and breakfast and...

The hotel could do with some serious refurbishment, i.e. double glazing and central heating (at present the hotel has only storage heaters). That said, the hotel certainly doesn't lack character, with some lovely large rooms downstairs.
Our room was very dated with mismatched furniture. The shower head needed replacement and you had to run the shower for ages to get...
