Second time I've stayed here - probably the best location for walking Snowdon. I stayed with five fellow walkers in room 8. A six berth room with piano - my god I'm glad we didn’t use it. Ordering a beer from the "bar" from one of the staff who knew nothing about them we were asked if we were from... More

We came for the scenery and were not disappointed, The staff were most welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Used the bar, and had breakfast, nothing out of the ordinary but a good start to the day, and good value. A young group of campers were in trying to dry off before going back up to their camp,... I passed this way on my bike and although they didn't have a bike storage area allowed me to put my bicycle in the drying room (very much appreciated!). The bar was well stocked and atmospheric with subtle music playing in the background. Supper was hearty and fantastic value. I had the garlic mushrooms on ciabatta to start and then... More

Clean. Cheap. Great service. Friendly vibe. Right at the start of 3 major tracks (Miners Track - easy, Pyg track - medium, Crib Goch - very hard and not to be taken lightly. Believe the hype!) Handy tip: be nice and charming to the hostel staff (you should be anyway but...) and they might let you park in the lay-by... More

yha pen-y-pass is located at the heart of snowdon. it is right in front of the miner's track and many other hiking trails. The youth hostel was a great value for money and most of people there are those come for hiking, mountain biking etc and there is a lovely atmosphere inside. Driving from llandudno to snowdon to reach this... More

I stayed here on the 24th april 2012 on my way to climbing snowdon. It is very welcoming and the staff are very friendly. We booked it with food and this was homely and plentiful. Thank you YHA. Andy and friends

Just great base for lots of walks around the area. Well served by public transport too - tricky parking for cars. Bit like "The Shining" when you stay there in the winter - an old hotel, up a snowy mountain. Bit annoying that in the winter it is only open Wednesday to Monday. Starting to feel a bit old (showers... More

As you would expect for a youth hostel, basic rooms, cheap, good location for climbing Snowden. Staff were fantastic and were very helpful and polite. Only downside was the parking- you can get a voucher to park on car park opposite but it fills up early and we had to park over a mile away then move car up in... More

A friend and I stayed in a private room in this interesting hostel at Pen y Pass, at the base of the Pyg track and the Miner's path up Snowdon. The hostel is in an extended old hotel building. Reception feels like a normal youth hostel entrance with useful information posted on the walls. At check in there was a... More
