We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Lodge, Avebury last year in June 2011. Our host, Andrew, was friendly and helpful. We took up the offer of the extra payment to Andrew to show us around Silbury Hill, Kennet Long Barrow and more -- and this was really value for money. Andrew has a sound knowledge of the history of... More

Andrew is an excellent host - very friendly, knows his village and its stones well. Our family of five stayed two nights, using Avebury as a base for exploring nearby Bath and Stonehenge as well as enjoying our private time with the stones of Avebury in the evenings. We had two rooms, and they were great - perfect views out... More

We recently stayed for 3 nights in this very pleasent and interesting accomodation. The Lodge hosts were extremely helpful and thoughtful during our stay, providing very useful information on Avebury and other interesting local sites. Their breakfasts in the morning were excelent and something to look forward to. The accomodation and its historical decor, together with the views across the... More

We stayed for 2 nights at the Lodge, and having read the variety of comments on Trip Advisor, I had an open mind. This is very much a "Stay in our home" rather than a contrived guest experience. It was an opportunity to stay in a period property, suitably furnished, with views from each room of the stones, and the... More

It is very nice to take in the view of the stone circles from the bedroom window of the historic lodge. It's handy having a base right in the middle of the historic sites (there's lots more to Avebury than the stone circles). More

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Lodge and I would recommend it as a first class B&B. An excellent host and a refreshing break from the clinical lines of a Travel Tavern, there is no concierge but the owner will gladly help you with the local area, indeed anything you might need during your stay. The rooms... More

Thank you for saying such nice things! At the end of the day, The Lodge has offered B&B for almost 10 years and 2011 has proved itself to be our busiest year yet! From mid Feb. to mid Sept. were almost fully booked, working 7 days a week and catering for people from all over the World. Occasionally guests arrive... More

Great Location, but not much else to recommend this place. The beautiful building, found within the stone circle, is stuffed with the contents of a junk shop, including a massive pile of smelly old teddies with whom one shares the breakfast room. NOT cute. The bed was comfortable and the views great, but we just couldn't work out why the... More

Interior decor is a personal thing, yet our dining room maligned as it is by this reviewer, has appeared in many magazines and television shows and as such, antiques might not be every ones bag and perhaps this Guest prefers a more minimalist interior. I wouldn't be ashamed of shopping in junk shops if I did, but from memory, this... More

The Lodge is in an amazing location, quiet for a good night's sleep, beautifully maintained, and very clean. We stayed five nights at the Lodge. Andrew and Susan are very friendly, hospitable and fun! Each morning we were served a delicious healthy and hearty breakfast including Susan's wonderful homemade jams. Andrew gave us excellent advice for our travels and the... More

The setting is absolutely unique. You are in the exact middle of the stone circles area and you see a part of them from your window. The rooms have a nice atmosphere as the rest of the house. Comfort is not excellent: our room didn't have an en-suite bathroom even if we got a private one; rooms are quite small,... More

It's lovely to get a Very Good and I'm genuinely pleased this discerning reviewer enjoyed Avebury as a location and it's a bonus that they liked me too. Nice is really kind. The room mentioned is the Pelmet Room, it's about 4.20m x 4.75m which seems to suggest it's on the larger side of average, although why not look at... More
