We stayed here when participating in this year’s Great North Run. Very handy location for that – halfway along the route! Check in was friendly. We didn’t notice any smell at all from the Little Chef or Burger King when we walked in. We knew in advance that they were attached to the hotel and anyone who pays attention when... more

This place is a bog standard Travelodge, you know what you will get for your money. It is ideal for the motorway and the Tyne Tunnel but to call it "Newcastle" is like saying Kings Cross Station is handy for the promenade at Brighton. Whitemare Pool is in Wardley which technically is in Gateshead but it is in the most... more

I stayed here on Mon & Tues 17/18th August but after reading a review my friend sent me and being rather fussy, I wondered what on earth I was walking into but I needn't have worried. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was on the ground floor but there was no noise from the road, or any... more

As an overnight stay this place was good. We were travelling north and just wanted somewhere to stay to break up the trip. It is a little way out of Newcastle but we realised that when we booked. The room was a little shabby with the furniture showing signs of wear but it was clean and comfortable. We were given... more

We booked in for 5nights and we enjoyed it / It was easier for getting to south shields and to get to the shopping complex near the tunnel entrance/ we were in the annex which is the newest part of the hotel. the beds were the best we have ever slept in/ We have stayed at the one in gateshead... more

Having just returned from this "hotel", and still feeling much the worse for wear, I now feel a sense of duty to let everyone know how bad this place actually is. I have stayed in many Travelodges in my time, and I know what to expect for my money, but this place is something else entirely. If you are planning... more

Just came back from staying in Travel Lodge Whitemare Pool Newcastle. This has to have been the worst place I have ever stayed. The rooms were dirty, had not been cleaned before we were put in them, bedding was not clean. one of our party had to ask to be moved as their room was so bad. some of our... more

This is a typical Travelodge - you know what you're getting and they deliver it effectively. There is Burger King and Little Chef on site but there were no smells in the rooms as has been suggested in some reviews. In fact, the room is adequate and, although some of the fittings are getting slightly dated, none of them could... more

I only read the reviews of this hotel on Tripadvisor after I'd booked our stay at Whitemare Pool, and wondered what I was letting myself in for - but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I was fearing it would be! Only a very slight cooking smell in the reception area, but as it's open plan and shares its... more

Arrived at Whitemare Pool with some trepidation after reading previous reviews. However was pleasantly surprised by lack of cooking oil smell as quoted by others. Room was clean and completely what I would expect from Travelodge. We had to turn down the heating even though temperatures outside were frosty to say the least. Location is handy for Metro line, just... more
