This was my first experience with English style campgrounds. Americans will find it feeling like pitching in someone's backyard, but that is how they do things here! Nice, friendly pitch, hikers were chatty with giving trail advice. There were numbers for local takeouts in the bathrooms, and directions for getting a taxi. I stayed at the campsite on Thursday 15th July 2010 for one night while doing Hadrian's Wall Walk and found the site excellent. Toilet and washing/shower facilities were clean and good with soap and shower gel supplied. Owner was very nice and helpful with a taxi and carry-out food telephone numbers provided.
