What makes this so special, apart from the food? Well you would be challenged to find better service and such a special welcome..... More

Very good location just opposite the Abbey gardens and a few minutes walk from the town centre. Room was great – spacious, modern and comfortable. Bathroom was stylish with bath and separate shower. All very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and were well worth the short wait. More

Four of us went for a late Sunday lunch, the food and service was very good apart from the fish pie which had been microwaved until it was red hot! The Fox has a jazz band every Sunday evening, the music was excellent! Well worth a visit More

Having lived in Bury St Edmunds and seen the works in progress, but now living in France so needing a place to stay in town for a couple of days, we can thoroughly recommend The Fox (room 5). Fitted out to a very high standard, good bistro pub grub and very helpful staff. Not cheap but definitely worth it. We... More

We, a party of 17 ramblers (!), booked a Sunday lunch at the Fox because it was on the route of our 'Historic walk of Bury St.Edmunds'. Our original party of 12 gradually increase to 17 with the last 2 booking in on the Sunday morning. This presented no problems for the Fox who provided us with an excellently presented... More

A very thoughtful barn conversion that makes rustic features a benefit. I stayed in room 4 which has been very well adpated for wheel chair users and is still comfortable for the able bodied to use. The room was very spacious with a large comfortable bed and 2 small chairs. Evening turn down service was a very nice touch. Excellent... More

This review should be read in context: we paid 160 pounds a night for the Hayloft (Room 6) because it was premium priced for Christmas. If we'd paid the rack rate of 135, or less as some people here have on a last minute deal, I wouldn't be so critical. But at 160 quid a night in Bury St Edmunds... More

We were fortunate to find The Fox Inn on the internet for a last minute booking. We stayed for 3 nights in what is a converted barn. All of the rooms (especially the Hayloft are first class. The personal detail to fixtures/fittings and furnishings were just fantastic. All the beds are king-sized and very comfortable. Sheila the owner and all... More

Had the pleasure of staying here overnight on business (have been looking for an excuse to stay here for a while) and decided to bring my Mum along so she could do a spot of christmas shopping while I attended my meeting. Nicely located for shopping, the cathedral, Abbey Gardens etc. Rooms furnished to a very high standard. We had... More

Just spent a night in room 6 of this hotel. It was one of the best rooms I have stayed in, huge, very modern and well decorated, with a large sofa, bed the size of a planet and a free standing bath on the room. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower as well. Dinner in the inn was very... More
