Stayed for 1 night for a change of scenery, only live 30 mins away and had never visited before. The pub and rooms are immaculate and the staff are helpful polite and attentive. The old part where the rooms are, have so much character with uneven stairs and doorframes. Had hoped to encounter one of the alleged 3 ghosts in the... More

We stayed here for a one night stay. We were very impressed with the location, room, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The food was excellent too. The building is very old and has all its orginal charm - beams, fire places etc. We booked the room through lastminute.com, but we would have been equally happy to have paid full... More

We were welcomed like long-lost friends when we arrived. The exemplary customer service continued throughout our stay. The menu is clever- crowd-pleasing pub classics with some gems for the more discerning diner. The irregular angles of the doorframes in the older part of the pub are testament to the medieval heritage of the building. Tutbury is a fascinating little town. More

I stayed here with my Wife a few days ago as we were going to a 50th Birthday party nearby. We arrived about 2.30pm and were warmly welcomed at the check-in desk, within minutes we had our key and were guided to our room to drop the bags off. The room was fine, had everything we needed albiet it was... More

Although the food was very nice the service was so slow that we waited over 40mins for the starter, another 40mins for the main and the same again for the dessert and the food was only warm when it reached us and if the plates had ever been warmed you wouldn't have known it by they time they got to... Very nice friendly hotel. Pub downstairs, but very little noise. Fantastic room (room one) - lots of period details but very spacious. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We'd never been to tutbury but really enjoyed it. Couple of cafes and newsagents nearby, as well as takeaway and Indian. About half an hour to Alton towers too. Free wifi and fridge... More

Some people like glass boxes and exercise bikes and swimming pools. You won't get that here but what you will find is a traditional timber framed English pub, an interior of warm, rich tones, from the wooden beams to the gleaming brass. Check out Room 4 with its twisting staircase, segmental doorway and adze-cut beams. This is an authentic late... More
