Lovely building in a great location. The room was comfortable, warm and very clean. The room was very good value and it was an ideal spot for a weekend break. We didn't eat in the hotel, but did go for a few drinks in the bar, which had a good atmosphere and seemed to be full of local characters. The... More

Well I don't think it's perfect. It's OK, but there just isn't any real management, there just isn't. There's bar staff, but no one in charge. If you have a problem with anything, food, room etc...nothing! You can look for someone, day or night, nothing, no one. Even ringing them is completely useless, no one ever answers! More

I was only supposed to stay in Glastonbury one night, but I was so taken by the town and the locals that I added an extra night. I stayed in "the Nun's Cell." Many, if not all, of the 14 or 15 rooms don't have numbers on the door, but names referencing the ruins of the abbey across the street.... More

This is a great historical landmark - the oldest purpose built public house in the South West. It's now still a great pub with a new chef and good menu. I stayed in the family room which sadly lacked the old carm of the other rooms with old four poster beds and crooked beams. Infact the room felt quite jaded,... More

I stayed recently at the George and wrote a really positive review on this site the morning we the hotel, but by mid afternoon myself and partner were covered head to toe in bed bug bites. I to tried to contact the management to warn them and talk the matter to no response!! Avoid at all cost or be eaten... More

The George and Pilgrim is conveniently located in the centre of Glastonbury across the road from the abbey. It is a charming old inn, full of ambience - crooked beams, spiral staircases etc. Our room at the front on the first floor on first glance was delightful...with a handsome poster bed and a magnificent old fireplace (containing the TV). However,... More

I've ate twice in the George and pilgrim hotel in the last few weeks, first by chance as we were just walking past and fancied a snack or light lunch and the second because how much we enjoyed the food the first time. I had there Indian style curry which was truely a match to the local take away and... More

We stayed here for 1 night. It's very central so access to the abbey and Tor was easy. The room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was really good. We were worried when we saw it was a pub but no noise could be heard from the rooms so it wasn't an issue. The actual building was lovely and... More

Myself and partner have stayed at this hotel in the past and said we would never stay again but after hearing its changed for the better decided to give it another shot. BAD POINTS- Still eating in the crowded bar area very noisy and felt over looked, Staff think is a fashion show all walking around like there off clubbing,... More

There is nowhere to compare with the George and Pilgrim for sheer atmosphere: the medieval exterior and pre-Raphaelite style interior are unique. I found the staff friendly, and the self-service breakfast buffet with traditional bacon and eggs will satisfy the heartiest appetite. The room had modern but antique style furnishings appropriate to the locale and was spotless. It was naturally... More
