I have been a travel writer for more than twenty years now, and in all that time I have never stayed in a better English B&B than the Athole. The house is a spacious and handsome building, the bedrooms are large and immaculately furnished, the breakfast is extremely generous and perfectly prepared - and, by no means least, the hosts... more

My husband, my mother and I loved this charming place. The rooms were large and spotless, the bathrooms immaculate and the breakfast delicious with a great variety. Wolfgang could not have been more helpful and the location was perfect as it was a 10 minute down hill stroll to the centre of Bath. As a city we adored Bath and... more

Wolfgang, Josephine and staff all helped to make our 3 day stay so enjoyable. Caring, considerate and always available. Delightful well heated large room - Beckworth. Best breakfasts ever! We would never consider staying anywhere else when we revisit Bath. more

My husband and I recently stayed for a weekend break at Athole Guest House for our anniversary. We couldn't have wished for a nicer place to stay. The guest house is clean, warm, friendly with very spacious rooms. We stayed in the Fielding room which was beautiful. Our stay at Athole House will be long remembered mainly due to the host and hostess.I have never experienced such care and attention to the needs of guest. The grounds are beautiful and they present a relaxing atmosphere. They do all the cooking from scratch and they do it excellently. The pancakes taste much better than those made from a box mix. Both Wolfgang... more

Stayed here for 4 nights with my mother - we were in Fielding room which was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The bathroom was modern and roomy and absolutely sparkled!! We have travelled together frequently and always use B&Bs and have never seen a bathroom which sparkled like this one!! Have to mention the glorious breakfasts. First there's the fresh... more

Such a warm welcome from the owner, Wolfgang. The guest house displayed a vast amount of information about Bath. Even about the brand new Jamie Oliver restuarant just opened. Which too was great! Rooms were more than double the size of Hotel Du Vin and half the price. Everything you could ask for in a room and more. Fantastic shower... more

We spent our first night in England at the Athole Guest House in Bath and could not have picked a better place. Wolfgang, who was the ideal host, had upgraded us to larger rooms which were very spacious, light and airy and with comfortable beds. Breakfast was brilliant with a variety of local products on offer. Our only regret was... more

We stayed at Athole for 2 nights and felt warmly welcomed by our hostess Josephine. The facilities were great, including a good size bedroom with a well stocked mini fridge, great library, cosy conservatory and free internet for guests which comes in very handy when you're travelling away from home. Breakfast was terrific, with a wider range of slection than... more
