Excellent food and extremely good service at dinner, though the staff at breakfast were lacking in understanding of English. I objected to an automatic service charge being added to my bill without previous advice. The bedroom was extremely small and the shower room totally inadequate for the price. Furthermore not particularily clean!! For your information the room was called Signet and... More

A good restaurant should serve delicious food and it should be served with style! Last night was a busy Saturday but the way we were treated was shameful for a restaurant with this reputation. There was a mistake with our booking and we were made to feel very uncomfortable whilst it was sorted out. When we were finally placed at... More

This is a charming inn just off Burford High Street on Sheep Street which was surprising quiet. The inn is full of history with lots of beams and stone flagged floors. The service from staff from reception to the restaurant to the bar was very friendly and efficient. The only room available to us was Signet, one of the smallest... More

We brought friends with us for this third visit and everything was as good as before. Staff are attentive and polite. The dining room and food are wonderful. Our friends really enjoyed the olde worlde atmosphere. The 6 foot beds are really comfortable and bathrooms well equipped and spacious . The hotel is away from the noise of the high... More

We look forward to the fourth! Many guests request a quiet room but you have hit the nail on the head. With the hotel’s location, they are all quiet. Thank you. More

My husband and I spent 3 nights at The Lamb and we had a very relaxing time. We had an excellent room (Auricula) with a very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and lots of flapjack! The food was excellent and all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We hope to return soon.

I booked a birthday meal for my husband here. We were treated like royalty from when we arrived until when we left. The food was delicious - beautifully presented and the small portions, which at first seemed a bit disappointing, were a blessing in disguise because following all the courses - amuse bouche, pre-dessert, petit fours etc, we left feeling... Our Sublime Sunday offer is a very handy way for local people to justify the extravagance of visiting overnight so close to home…even when not a birthday! I am glad you noted our meal portioning. I canvas resident opinion on this regularly and firmly agree with you. From start to finish is several bursts of flavour which cumulatively fill even... More

We were switched from the Bay Tree -- a sister / neighbour hotel of the Lamb -- due to work needed on the original room we booked. We were apprehensive as we had previously stayed at the Bay Tree and liked it there. We need not have worried , the Lamb is very good ,the staff attentive and courteous and... More

Although under the same ownership, the Bay Tree and Lamb are two wonderfully different properties. I am extremely happy that as a default option we met every expectation! Thank you and I hope your visit is the first of many. More

We met family who had travelled, as we had, to meet at this venue for lunch on Saturday. Although we got there at 12 noon it was already busy and we wondered if we'd find a table for 7 but the staff were very helpful and directed us to a small lounge and said they'd be happy to serve food... More

You have touched on one of the Lamb’s unwritten rules. You will not be rushed! The style of the property is conducive with taking your time and relaxing. With this said, Burford is a great place to do similar and the combination of a meandering walk in town followed by a leisurely lunch is golden. Thank you for noting the... More

We'd been in Witney for dinner and decided to pop into Burford for a nightcap on the way home. We'd initially intended to go to The Baytree but as they had a function on we thought we'd try The Lamb Inn next door - and how pleased we were that we did! As soon as we crossed the threshold we... More

I have been going to this Hotel for years and it is very special. The rooms to sit in are wonderful. Roaring fires and dark paintwork really make the cosy atmosphere. The food is great. There is a smart restraunt as well as the bar menu. I prefer the bar food as one can relax on a sofa instead of... More
