My partner and I stayed at Hallbarns for one night while attending a wedding at the Battlesteads in nearby Wark (3 miles away). At first confused about the location, (as google map places this B&B on the green at Wark!), we found it without any problems as it's just off the main road that follows Hadrians Wall. Margaret and her... More

My son and I walked Hadrian's wall during August 2011 and stayed at Hallbarns Bed and Breakfast. The stay was great, when we arrived at the end of a long days hike, we were immediately offered relax in their sitting room and offered a pot of tea and cake before going up to our room. The home is very quaint,... More

It was lovely to be welcomed with tea and homemade cake and our twin room was spacious, bright and comfortable. The evening meal was very nice, apart from the vegetarian main course - delicious sticky toffee pudding and cream for dessert! The owners were friendly and obviously took great pride in making guests feel at home. More

This is a lovely bed & breakfast, which feels like a family home. Margaret and Dick were extremely warm and accommodating, especially with our two small boys. The family room is spacious, pretty, comfortable and very clean. The shared rooms are also very nice. Breakfast was great, filling but not overwhelming and all freshly cooked and tasty. The b&b is... We had a great welcome. Our hosts picked us up from Hadrians Wall and then washed and dried our wet gear without us having to ask. We then had tea and cake brought into the lounge for us. The rooms were very clean and tidy and had all the ammenities. They then cooked us a Fantastic 3 course meal..there was... More

We had booked Hallbarns through a tour company as one of the B&Bs on the Hadrians Wall walk and agreed to be picked up from Chollerford (the farm is a number of miles further north). On calling for the pick up the owner advised that she was in a hospital dealing with a sick friend. No problems- she organised for... More

Beautiful place to stay, our room was immaculate. Margaret's food was amazing! My husband came down with a stomach bug before we arrived as we were walking along Hadrian's wall path and the Locke's were very accomodating. They allowed us to stay about 6 hours longer than our expected checkout time the following morning. Additionally, Mr. Locke drove us to... More

We were picked up from Chollerford and on arrival at Hallbarns we were given a lovely cup of tea and piece of chocolate shortbread - a lovely touch! Our room was lovely, very comfortable bed and a very nice bubble bath - perfect after a day's walking! Great breakfast and really nice surroundings. Watching the family of woodpeckers whilst eating... More
