Ashbourne House accepted a one night booking on a Saturday which immediately set it apart from just about everywhere else in York. Put that aside we also met Paul and Julie for the first time and am very sure it won't be the last! They were our perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble and we were able to check... More

Went to Ashbourne house for one night at the end of January with friends. Nice place, clean & tidy with a lovely breakfast. The walk to the town was about 20 mins along the river. Taxi from the station was about £6, but we enjoyed the walk. More

The hosts were very welcoming and always provided service with a smile. We were well informed about York attractions and the local pubs. The walk into town was short and sweet, even in the snowy conditions. But most of... More

Had a fantastic stay in York at Ashbourne House. We arrived in a cold and wet January, but don't ever let the weather put you off. A bit about the guest house, great location - easy to find and easily within a good walk to the centre - either down the road or the more scenic route along the river.... More

We stayed at this welcoming B&B on a cold Feb 3 and 4. The place is about 20 mins brisk walk along the river from York centre and, on a nice day, it is a lovely walk. It was very cold when we were there but we still managed it on Day 1 albeit the snow on Day 2 made... More

As a young couple, this was our first experience of staying in a bed and breakfast together and it was utterly perfect. From the joyous welcome we received upon walking into the well-heated, immaculately presented house to the toffees in reception that we were invited to "help ourselves" to, to the selection of herbal teas, teas and coffees, literally everything... Booked a surprise weekend for me and my girlfriend at Ashbourne House and we had a brilliant time. We were on the second floor in a comfy cosy room with all the extras where it was lovely and quiet. We had dinner just up the road at The Plough on Friday night – good plateful here. Breakfast was fantastic, loads... More

It's a pleasure to recommend this lovely little B&B, we stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of January. We found the roon very comfortable, clean and most convinient. The en-suite was smart and clean and the bed very comfotable, and we found the hosts were welcoming, helpful and extremely amiable. Breakfast was tremendous, served with a smile by Julie.... More
