Spent two nights here on a trip with 14 friends. I was in a room for six (three bunk beds). Great place with friendly staff. Extremely good location 10 minute walk from the railway station in the centre of York with lots of places to eat and drink nearby. The restaurant down stairs does an excellent breakfast. Very clean. A... More

Had a brilliant stay here with a group of friends for a city break. Stayed 3 nights with 4 friends in the log cabin dorm room which had an en-suite. The decor was lovely, a lot nicer than you usually see in a hostel! We planned on going to different venues for breakfast but after one Full Monty the first... More

I just stayed at The Fort with a fairly large group (taking over 3 of the dorm style rooms!) and for this purpose I'd highly recommend it. 2 of the rooms included bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, whilst the 3rd also included a good sized lounge area where we could all meet up and hang out. This was a real bonus,... More

8 of us stayed in an appartment for the weekend. 6 of us were in a room with 3 bunkbeds and two in a double room but in the same 'appartment'. We shared a kitchen and bathroom between 2 rooms. The kitchen had a microwave, oven, hobs, kettle, milk (proper milk in the fridge, not the uht stuff), teabags, coffee,... More

The location is very central and you can go about everywhere in a few minutes walk. When we arrived, we were welcomed by very friendly staff and were shown around the hostel. The room was very cool - we stayed in the future room, and it had funky neo lighting as well. The room is very nicely furnished and is... More

Only stayed for one night whilst visiting friends for an engagement party, actually in the bar associated with this hostel!! Unfortunately upon arrival the bed appeared un-made, possibly slept in, BUT after reporting this in the bar to a member of staff it was very quickly sorted out. Staff were very apologetic and helpful. The room was basic, but extremely... More

This place definitely tries really hard. Unfortunately, for me, it was just too much bad graffiti on the walls and cocktail tricks at the bar. The rooms are clean and tidy, and there is a good self service "chill-out" lounge that came is pretty cozy. It's also dead in the center of town. It is extremely loud though until 2AM... More

A total win. We came for new year for a couple of days and we have been bowled over by this place. We had a private double room with ensuite bathroom (the "future" room, complete with UV artwork on the walls) which was clean and comfortable. the QUALITY of this place is second to none, i think whoever owns the... Title says it all. Room was compact & clean, the location was perfect for exploring within York's city walls, but it is above one of the busier bars and was loud til 2am. Perfect excuse for staying up and partying, but they do offer you earplugs upon checking in, so be warned. Overall, it was fine, but I'd expect either... More

We stayed over at The Fort for one night after visiting York Opera House. There was no parking close by so we were recommended to park in one of the NCP car parks which was not too expensive for a 24 hour stay but it was a bit of a trek in heels from the car park to The Fort.... More
