Stayed at this hotel for one night whilst attending an event in York. Great location, everything within easy walking distance, including the Barbican. Superior double room very good. Full Yorkshire Breakfast excellent, staff very pleasant.

Stayed here for two nights - good points: The pub - the rooms are snug and cosy, had dinner the first night we stayed, very very good and no complaints with the breakfast either The staff - friendly and helpful even though they were VERY busy Location - can't fault it although noise at night is the price you pay,... What can I say, the staff on the whole are OK however they are running and serving a busy pub/bar so little time for those that check in. They did take our bags for safe keeping as our room was not ready until after 2pm (though we did arrive at 11.30). We thought we would take the attic room and... More

I felt I had to give feedback regarding our stay withyou at the weekend. I was extremely disappointed with the stay overall. Wearrived to check in on saturday - eventually finding the bar to check in? A guy who seemed extremely stressed advised us we could leave our bags andreturn after 2pm to check in which was great. However we... More

We enjoyed a memorable evening at the Lamb & Lion. We were four adults and two kids - it could have been a nightmare for some places, but here they managed all our foibles with charm and aplomb. We all had the most delicious food - from a fish finger sandwich for the five year old, to my husband's pork... More

You can always tell when a good landlord leaves as certain things that are intrinsic too a good hostelry change. First I suspected this was when the real ale took a decided turn for the worst. All four real ales were kept well by the landlord that has now gone to pick up the basket case that was The Guy... More

I booked a table for 2 for my mother's birthday. The table was in the back snug and was comfortable and quiet. I had bread, olives and oil while we had a drink. For mains we ordered the fish and chips and the wild mushroom risotto - which were both delicious. For dessert we ordered strawberries with syrup and ice... More

More like a Bed&breakfast with the base in the pub in the groundfloor, the rooms above up som narrow stairs. The pub is quite nice, the atmosphere good and the staff polite. A very nice beer-garden . Very central in the city, just inside the old citywall and close to Minster.
