We were recommended to stay at the Abbey steps by the owner of our usual place because they were fully booked up. We went to the tearooms for a drink out of season - the lady owner served us. She made no effort to talk to us or be friendly in anyway. We were the only customers in the cafe and we were made to feel like a nuisance to be honest. She even tutted at the fact we had a pram... More

will not be return to this B&B again due to the couple that run this , no complaints about the room but a very unfriendly service. rude and discourteous. we went in the tea room and s aid the water was cold among ourself and the waitress was fairlly aggressive when we left. The lights were switched out but we were not told they were closing.

We arrived late at night while walking the Cleveland Way. Very clean room and bathroom literally on the steps down from the Abbey on the route. Fantastic view over the harbour from the bed in the morning. Great place to stay !

we stayed at Abbey steps for 1 night last year and absolutely loved it. The view from the bedroom was lovely. The owners make you very welcome, breakfast was great. We are planning to go back very soon

Its not B and B now you just pay for the room, but thats no prob as cafe below does breakfast. As usual the bedrooms are spotless and so comfortable with fantastic view from your bed. You can watch boats coming into harbour. I wouldnt go anywhere else in Whitby. You can stagger from pubs straight to bed. Perfect location.... More

My husband and i stayed for two nights in a lovely ensuite room above the Abbey Steps Tearoom.The view from the room across the Abbey Steps,the outer harbour and out to sea is amazing.The owners welcomed us each morning in the tea room for a choice of breakfasts,both of us had the Full English which was probably the best breakfast...
