Stayed one night before doing the Settle to Carlisle train journey. We got a room upgrade as they knew it was my husband 50th birthday. We got a warm & friendly welcome on arrival. Our room was spotlessly clean, & had all the facilities required. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was excellent as was the service from... More

We stayed here for just the one night after taking a fancy to Settle. We were offered the walk in rate of £65 B&B, not bad atall but this place will get really booked up in the summer as there are only a handful of places to stay. We had room 14 at the front, very clean, nice bed, little... More

This is a nice Inn downstairs, with a roaring fire. The Food is very nice and good value for money. However we had room 6 on the front and it was very noisy due to the road outside. The window also rattled and we had to put paper against the frame to stop it rattling. The room is nicely furnished,... More

I am delighted on one hand that you enjoyed the inn itself and the food and service but of course disappointed to hear that you did not get a good night’s sleep. I realise we cannot turn back the clock but if you would like to contact me personally I would be very happy to invite you back as my... More

We decided we would like to stay at the Lion for New Year’s Eve, but before booking we drove up and had a pub lunch. Lunch was excellent and nicely served. On enquiring about room availability for New Year, without asking, the offer was made to show us a room, which we then booked. Room 15 was a very pleasant... More

We stayed here Jan 1st 2012. This is a very good quality hotel. We were greated warmly by the staff and showed to our room. The room was clean and modern with crisp white bedding. there was a little noise outside from the extracot from down stairs but not a problem. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, the... More

The wife and I had been looking at a number of hotels in the north of england all in the 150 GBP + price range. I found the Lion after a day of hill walking with a friend around settle. After accidently finding It I felt it could just hit the mark. The room was appropriately priced - The staff... More

We visited this hotel for my partner's birthday as his criteria was a country inn, log fires, nice rooms, good food and real ales-the Lion fitted them all. We visited with our friends and were given large, beautifully furnished rooms that were spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent as was the breakfast, as the... More
