I've stayed here a few times now - most recently in January 2012 on business. I've yet to be allocated a river view room but do seem to be gradually graduating towards one. We stayed at the hotel on Saturday 28 January for just one night. As we were going sight seeing we arrived about 8.30 in the morning just to drop off our case. The receptionist checked the computer and actually allowed us to check in and use the room from that time - this is something that I have never experience....
