Stunning views right by the lake, excellent food. We stayed the weekend of the 19th May 2012 in one of the lodges. It's not the chepest place, the service at the bar was a bit slow. Storrs Hall is not the place to take a young baby as there are no facilities to accomodate baby changing and not wheelchair/pram friendly.... More

These timber lodges are in an amazing location on Lake Windermere. In the morning, you can take your cup of tea straight down to the waterside and enjoy it in the peace and quiet by the side of the water. It's completely idyllic. The lodges are in the grounds of Storrs Hall Hotel and we went in several times for... More

Dear traveller25, You must be 26 by now, writing about May last year. Nevertheless, thank you for your constructive entry. We have no intention to misinform our guests on the lake side (views) of some of the lodges. There is a slight price difference, as the lake side ones do look down to the water edge. As you say, they... More

We love the lakes and have used the English Lake Hotels for the last few years where I have received excellent treatment but I will never recommend anyone to stay here after the treatment we received on New Years Eve. If you stay in the lodges you are treated as a second class citizen. First of all WiFi is only... More

Dear Joanne W, Thank you for your entry. We do appreciate comments from our guests, for the hotel and/or for the lodges. We have no intention at all to give anybody the feeling of a second class citizen. On the Wifi, we will look into this for the new season, as more and more of our guests like to use... More

Have stayed here twice, first occasion in lodge 4 and the next time in lodge 3. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and it was wonderful and peaceful to stroll along paths or just sit on the lawn. My daughter was especially delighted to come within 4 metres of a deer on the front lawn and captured the most amazing photograph.... More

Lodges Dear Helen T, That photograph is really good. Quite unique to get a shot that close, looking straight into the camera. Must be a talented photographer in the making. Thank you for your entry, describing the stay in our lodges. If we can assist you again (and again) with another reservation please do not hesitate to contact our reservation... More

We have always loved the Lake District and when it came to deciding where to get married, although there are plenty of suitable venues in South Manchester / Cheshire, it was obvious to us that the Lakes gave us the idyllic location. After a day planned looking at venues across the South Lakes, we started at Storrs...then another other 7... More

Dear Dominic and Katie, Thank you for your positive comments. The entry has been shared with all our staff and we appreciate you taking the time to write. As said in previous correspondence, we hope we can welcome you both back (with all your guests?) to the hotel or the lodges. Kind regards, Jan van Stipriaan More

If you are planning on visiting Windermere I would recommend only a 2 night stay. We had booked Mon-Fri and decided to leave on the Wednesday. Without doubt it is a beautiful place however, as stated on the website the lodges do not have a view of the lake as it is surrounded by trees, I would not say it... More

Dear Shar786, Thank you for your entry and taking the time to write about your stay and giving your view on staying in the Lakes. The lodges are indeed in the grounds; the hotel and the lodges are situated within our own woods. From a number of the lodges you can look onto the lake shore. For lodge parking there... More

Our second stay at Storrs Lodges and ended up in the same lodge which suited us fine. On our first trip we chose Storrs Lodges because we wanted to bring our dog on holiday. We had great weather and the dog had a ball. Since then our dog passed away and we now have a new young dog and wanted... More

Dear gandiWestLothian, Thank you for writing about your stay in the Lodges. We do indeed allow dog(s) in some of our lodges and reservations can be made within that set allocation. I am pleased to read that you and the dog enjoyed the time in the Storrs Lodges. If we can assist you (or your friends) again with another reservation,... More

This was our first stay in the Lakes and we were not disappointed. Arrived early and had a walk around the grounds and a drink in the hotel which felt like you had just stepped in to an Agatha Christie novel. The lodges were modern in comparison and were not visible from the hotel but you had your own private... More

Dear antoin, The Lakes are a lovely area to be in, on holiday or to work. I am not sure if I we were ever featured in a novel by Agatha Christie. Need to check. Your comments summarise the setting quite well. The lodge comments have been discussed in the meantime internally. Thank you for your comments and please do... More

First holiday with a dog in the Lakes and it was brilliant. I was worried reading some of the reviews, however the lodge was clean and nicely furnished (Belle Isle) Yes the carpets were past their best but felt more relaxed knowing the dog could not do much damage! Much better than I had expected and I was surprised that... More

Dear Campbell7 Thank you for taking the time to write about our lodges and your experiences. I am afraid the secret is out now. Only a few of our lodges are permitted with dogs and you stayed in one of them, reading your comments. Our hotel bar and restaurant is open to lodge guests, depending on the booking situation. I stayed at the Storrs lodges with a group of friends over new year. We had a great time. The lodge I stayed in was for 4 people and was big enough for us all. Dear walker2000, Having your party staying at our lodges was most enjoyable for you and ourselves, as your party went out of their way to fit in with and enjoy the New Year festivities at the hotel.
