Near Howe is a lovely house away from everything, in the rolling hill by Penrith. Their website and booking system was easy to use and provided good directions since SATNAV doesn't provide the right directions using their post code. My second visit but this time I stayed with my wife in one of the three self-catering cottages available. Excellent location for access to walking and hill climbing. Plenty of places to eat and Keswick is such a nice little town. 2 bed Cottage was more than adequate with great views from the lounge. We will be back. more

Stayed in Saddleback Barn in early October. Very spacious & clean (accomodated a family of 5 without difficulty) - large & WARM upstairs room (kitchen/dining/lounge) was vey useful & welcome after a freezing day on the fells Owners friendly, helpful & welcoming I'd definitely come back more

We stayed at Near Howe on the first night of a 4 day C2C cycle ride, and it was great - the welcome from Steve and Jill was very warm, and they obliged us with a reservation at the local pub, and a lift there and back. Stayed at Near Howe in Feb 2008. Located in a commanding position away from everything. Rooms clean and well presented. Welcome was genuine. Good breakfast. Website does it justice. Overall, excellent location to explore this part of the Lakes. The Mill Inn in Mungrisdale does super meals. more
