We stayed at the Temple Sowerby Hotel en route to Scotland, it was a quiet Wednesday evening at the beginning of February. The staff were very friendly, great welcome. The dinner was excellent and was worthy of accolades and wouldn't be out of place within the Michelin fold. Breakfast delicious and fresh. We would stay here again, if I have... More

What a change to find a place where people really care. We always enjoy visiting this hotel. Excellent service, food and accommodation. The owners are constantly improving the facilities and improving the already very high standards. The welcome is warm and friendly. More

We got married in march at this hotel and cannot speak highly enough of it, everything was done to make us feel welcome, we wanted a small and intimate wedding and this did not disapoint, the room we got married in was gorgeous and the food was the best we have ever eaten. The room we stayed in had a... More

Very good service at this family run hotel. Comfortable room and excellent food. Shower in en suite rather than a bath/shower perhaps a drawback for some. This is the only criticism More

We used this hotel for several years as the venue for day long strategic meetings, sadly the business has moved and so we no longer meet there. The facilities are first rate for smaller groups and the staff are very attentive and friendly, but make sure there are no interruptions. When you break for refreshments and lunch the service and... My wife and I stayed here for one night, en-route to Scotland from Yorkshire. The hotel is in a lovely village just off the A66, very near to Penrith, so a great stopover hotel for travelling North or South. We had a very well appointed deluxe twin room, with spa bath. The beds were extremely comfortable, the bathroom well stocked... More

We stayed for one night on our way home from Scotland. It's pleasantly located in the high street of a small village with views of open countryside. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a leisurely drink in the intimate and well stocked bar before sitting down to a delicious supper in the conservatory dining room. Our bedroom was comfortable with... More

Every time I 'phone this hotel for a meal or a room I'm always relieved when they say they can accommodate us. It really is a gem of a place & the food is wonderful. It can only be a matter of time before it is discovered. We stopped off for a meal on the way back from a trip... More

This second visit toTSH met and exceeded our expectations. The hotel has a calm, dignified, relaxed atmosphere. Just what we wanted for a change of pace from our busy lives. The staff maintain the fine balance of being attentive, without being overbearing. Putting it simply they are great. After walking (in the rain) in the Lake District during the day... More
