Herdwick Inn has a quiet location in Penruddock off the A66 plus a comfortable bed and good shower. Food is a bit basic but overall it's excellent value and I would not hesitate to stay here again. More

Heard some unexplainable noises during our two night stay during the night , Previous occupent of the same room experienced the same noises , never the less this is our third stay ,Lnda is a great hostess . Wife refuses to go back because of noises,overall it is a warm Inn ,nice meals and comfortable accomodation. More

A night away without kids. An excellent welcome open fire blazing. Great food with a special of Irish stew for St Patricks Day. Staff (Mark, Linda and Dean) were fantastic as well Bill who spent time with us after service had finished. Can't wait until we manage another night away without the kids. More

The Herdwick itself sells some lovely food and has well kept beer,my room over the 3 day stay was kept clean and replenished with what was needed. staff were very friendly and the pub itself has bags of character,would stay again! More

If your after a place to rest your head after a long walk and a few welcome beers, then this is just the place. Simple bedrooms, a little small but clean. Jennings beer on tap. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Hearty pub food. A good mix of locals to keep the atmosphere lively. More
