We have stayed 3 times now at Allerdale House and have already booked for next year. For us it is ideal as our dogs have always been made welcome. What makes this place outstanding is not the great food, comfortable rooms, or good location but the warmth, welcome, and attention to detail of Tony and Helen. For example, my husband mentioned liking crumpets, and the next morning, crumpets appeared at breakfast. The breakfast was fabulous (try the oatmeal and the special yogurt), the room charming, the bathroom larger than usual for England, but the service provided by Helen and Tony is what will make me go back. They did things for us and for other guests without even being asked and made us feel like guests in their home. more
