This is easily the best guest house we have stayed at. This is a family run guest house, which became obvious as you felt as though you were being welcomed into their home. Just spent night at Stonegarth with husband for my birthday as we have for the last 9 years! We spent a four day Honeymoon at Stonegarth after eloping to Gretna Green. We have never been made to feel so special and welcome. Very cordial greeting, very well appointed, if small & slightly crowded (room 2). Lakeland breakfast (very enthusiastically recommended) is simply HUGE! Way too much for a Yank unused to eating so much in the morning (even skipping Elevenses!). Probably the best in an area where almost every residence is also a guest house. more

We received a very hospitable welcome from the owner on our arrival and were made to feel most welcome. Amazing room and bathroom (double jacuzzi and television mirror, luxury after a long day walking the hills). Great service and location, by far our favourite place to stay in the Lakes. more
