Stayed here very many times in many different rooms. All beautifully presented with lovely outlooks. The guest house is a real gem and has a homely feeling. A roaring fire with comfy sofas in the lounge area is part of the breakfast room. Good selection of freshly prepared fruits and cereals with options for all dietary requirements well labelled. Eggs cooked to order with the usual delicious additions to a veggie breakfast. Endless coffee and toast to finish. There are lovely walks direct from the doorstep and two fabulous restaurants under the same ownership for dinner in the evening just a short drive away.

We enjoyed an overnight stay at Yewfield, choosing it primarily on the basis of it being vegetarian (as we're both vegan). Heading out from Ambleside, some pretty narrow roads (of the kind we're not used to in Australia!) led us to this character-filled B&B. The location is stunning with wide open views and we immediately felt welcome as we checked-in and were shown to our room, which was spacious and pleasantly furnished with all we needed for a comfortable overnight stay. For dinner, we headed back into Ambleside to try Zeffirellis, an all-vegetarian Italian restaurant (under the same group as Yewfield). The restaurant was large and impressive, our food was also excellent here. Breakfast was a highlight and certainly one of the best B&B offerings we've experienced. It was great to see so many organic choices and everything was clearly labelled so we could make easy vegan choices. Chia puddings were a surprise but nice way to start and the hot breakfast was substantial and nicely cooked. The walk from the B&B over the fields to Tarn Hows was really enjoyable, with fine views over the surrounding countryside and picture perfect lake views. We really enjoyed our brief stay at Yewfield and would recommend it to vegetarian/vegan travellers exploring this part of the Lake District.

We booked one of the converted barns and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The accommodation is well presented, open fronted with great gardens. Friendly greeting and good information provided on local walks. The best walks are out the back of the house through the fields and there’s a beautiful lake. I strong;y recommend anyone to stay here for a long weekend or week…….. or two.

Had a wonderful stay at Yewfield! Highly recommend this Guesthouse! The hosts were very gracious and attentive to my questions and needs. Room and bed were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was excellent each day. Directions on nearby places to visit were helpful and clear. The grounds, gardens and walking paths were beautiful. They found out it was my birthday and had a sweet treat for me, which I found very thoughtful and hospitable. I look forward to visiting the lakes district again, and I would return to Yewfield in a heartbeat!

Absolutely brilliant stay in these two luxurious apartments. We were attending a wedding close by and stayed here for 3 nights. Spacious, spotlessly clean and despite not having a lake view we had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful garden. Parking was easy and all directions given were spot on. We needed accessibility for my elderly mum and she managed the couple of steps into the apartments fine. We had everything we needed, modern bathroom and fab fitted kitchen with everything working perfectly. Free WiFi was working well throughout our stay. Perfect hideaway location with great routes to all major nearby towns, lakes and attractions. We would definitely recommend a stay (at RoseHow 4&5) and hope to return for another stay in the future.

Absolutely awful, booked for a week and only stayed 3 nights!! Stopped in juniper suite….no heating, no WI-FI no where to sit except an uncomfortable dining room chair. Staff didn’t clean room and generally didn’t care about guests, had to ask for basic items to keep lodge clean such as tea towel and sponge to clean dishes. When we complained the reception just asked for payment in full with no attempt to rectify any of our issues!!

We care a great deal about our guests, so if you had asked, we would have been more than happy to show you how to turn on the switch on the heater or likewise to help you to log in to the wifi. We are sorry you found the chairs uncomfortable. We always supply tea towels and sponges in our self catering apartments along with a full range of items we think may be useful for our guests in our self catering apartments. We were surprised by your early departure as this has never happened before yet we accepted that you were not happy to continue your holiday here and we did in fact reduce the price significantly for you.

Excellent guesthouse with lovely large and comfortable rooms, looks like recently refurbished. Beautiful views and a window seat as well as a chair well positioned to take it in! Visited with a pre-teen who loved the place. Breakfast was great, choice of cereals, toast and cooked breakfasts for vegetarian or vegan. Delicious! Large wardrobe, plenty of storage and sockets. Perfect temperature. Loads of space for parking. Only negative (and these were minor) - have to go out for evening meal (though they do have eve meal a couple of eves a week).

It is a vegetarian establishment, but as a dedicated carnivore I can say the food is superb. We stayed at Yewfield for 5 nights and were lucky enough to be there when Derek and his staff put on some dinners for the Easter guests. They were absolutely fantastic and the wine was very reasonably priced. The breakfasts are also superb. The walk to Tarn Hows was lovely - so we did it on three separate days. Cannot recommend Yewfield highly enough.

Lovely. What a delight of a place to stay. With an easy walk across to Tarn Hows, a really comfortable bed in a large well appointed room, hearty breakfast, lovely gardens and close proximity to a range of places to visit, Yewfield deserves a full 5 stars. OK you need to go into Ambleside for an evening meal but see my reviews of Zeffirellis and Fellins restaurants, it's worth the trip. We spent 4 nights at Yewfield and loved it.

I would rate Rose How 1 a solid 3/5 Pros - Easy to book, good directions and very welcoming. - Clean and well proportioned studio flat - Comfy large bed and decent shower - Nice kitchen with crockery for 4 and outside seating area - Dog friendly and easy walk to tarn how - On-site use of washing machine/drying room Cons - Poor Wi-Fi - very unstable, so don’t expect to be able to connect to it - Very thin walls and noisy neighbours - Poor kitchen utensils consisting of one grill pan and 2 sauce pans. Ok if eating out and not cooking. - Unfortunately we couldn’t open windows due to wasp infestation and had to be very careful walking through hallway due to the wasps

Thank you so much for pointing out so many 'pros', which we hope made your stay enjoyable. We very much regret the 'cons' you refer to and we sincerely hope you will have a better all-round experience next time. We're afraid the wasps were very much a seasonal manifestation and we acted on this immediately. Please do ask in future should you require any more cooking utensils - we will be very happy to oblige. You'll also be pleased to know that we are looking into a Starlink wifi system to help us connect better in this somewhat remote country location.
