We stayed here for two nights for my birthday. It is set in a peaceful spot just above the village of Hawkshead but only a few minutes walk down into the village. We left out car in the car park and walked down. The only noise that can be heard of birds tweeting and lambs bleeting which is lovely! Our... More

Outstanding location, superb accommodation and hospitality. Away from traffic yet easy to reach, Walker Ground is a perfect location to base yourself in the heart of the Lake District. The Five Star rating is well deserved. More

Visited Walker Ground last October half term and was satisfied with the accommodation. It is in a good location (nice walk down hill into Hawkshead, not far) and there is also a decent walk if you head out of Walker Ground and turn left up the hill. The room was comfy and the bathroom was huge with plentiful hot water.... More

Walker Ground is the name given to a small discreet area of the charming Lake District village of Hawkshead from which this wonderful Guest House takes it's name. Situated neatly between the busy and tourist oriented areas of Bowness and Windermere to the South and Ambleside to the North, Walker Ground has everything you would want if a quiet and... More

Have just returned from a fantastic stay with Andrea and her daughters (Dougie was away walking in the Pyrenees!). Cannot praise this place highly enough – absolutely everything has been carefully thought out and provided, all high quality and efficient. A beautiful setting and comfortable accommodation, fantastic hosts, great food and attention to detail make this THE place to stay... More

There is a room full of materials and guides for the area, and Dougie was more than helpful in planning days out. The rooms were lovely, spacious and furnished in a style that fitted. That bathroom was BIG and with both bath and seperate shower it was also great to soak the sore legs after a days hikking and the... More

The moment we saw our room we just thought - YES! It´s a short walk from Hawshead (5 min), but far enough that it was totally indisturbed. The room was spacious and the bathroom huge. Breakfast was served in the conservatory and had the weather been better we would have sat in the beautiful garden with a glass of wine... More

Once again a cracking stay in a first class guest house. Andrea and Dougie are the perfect hosts. Breakfast and bedrooms cannot be faulted. There's an excellent range of evening meals available from a selection of dining pubs just 5 minutes walk away in the village. More
