Situated in a lovely spot yards from the centre of Hawkeshead, easy to find and with parking, a bonus in this part of the world. The Landlady was very welcoming and I had a good craic on with her husband and their two gorgeous black labradors. My room was warm and welcoming with good quality furnishings, a great shower and... My fiance and I decided to have a weekend away in the lovely little village of Hawkshead, we found Merlin House through looking at other reviews on Tripadvisor, and had spotted it on a previous camping trip to Hawkshead. We had the front bedroom, which had it's own set of stairs, so felt like our own little apartment. It was... More

An excellent small b&b situated right on the edge of this small historic and beautiful lakeland village. The b&b is lovely and the rooms are very adequate. The Full English Breakfast is excellent. Anne, the host, is extremely welcoming, friendly, charming, witty and very helpful regarding the locality and areas further afield. The village pubs are just a few steps... More

Lovely old house, full of character (and pictures of hares!) and in a perfect spot with great views of the surrounding hills. My room faced east so I awoke to glorious sunshine through my bedroom window. Ann (known as Annie) is a great host, very knowlegdable about the Lake District and serves a beautiful breakfast. (The lemon yoghurt was gorgeous) More

Had a great stay at this cosy b&b. Anne was a brilliant host, very friendly and knowledgeable about places to visit. Breakfast was excellent and enjoyed many a morning natter with fellow guests sharing stories. Local pubs served good food and local ales and only a 2 minute walk away! Will be back one day. More

We stayed here for the easter weekend, the views from all the rooms are lovely and the rooms are a more than adequate size. The lady who owns the b&b is so friendly and helpful, recommending local walks and attractions including a nice pub for dinner. On the last morning we were leaving early so she left us out sandwiches... More

We have spent our last night in the Uk in this little wonderful property. We have found it " by nose " just walking around. Annie was indeed very kind to us and went out her way to make our stay the most pleasant. We had a nice triple with bathroom en suite at only 20 pounds per person including... More
