A lovely old house, but definately needs re-decorating. Dark hall and threadbare carpet on the stairs. Handy en-suite, but it only had a hand-held shower - as did most of the other rooms. The new owner has only been in for about a year and hopefully will make a difference and do what needs to be done. Very pleasant and... more

Excellently located in town - easily accessable with adequate parking. Attractive old building with circular staircase and rooms off a circular landing. Comfortable bed in fairly small room. Would not want to stay for more than 2/3 nights due to small room and tiny bathroom with small bath but no shower. Bathroom was clean and modern but lacked shelves, hooks... more

My partner and I booked to stay at the Ivy House Hotel at the end of March. We know Hawkshead well and although we normally stay at a B&B that we love we though we would give somewhere new a try. As it was a special occasion we paid extra for a room with a four poster bed and en... more

My partner and I decided on an spontaneous short break to the Lakes and I found Ivy House Hotel on the web and it looked very nice. I phoned the hotel and they were able to offer me a double room at £50 per person per night for 2 nights B&B. However upon our arrival the room was a great... more
