Love this place. Stayed here many times. The host Vanessa is brilliant, friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and creates a really homely place. The place is set in the beautiful village of Hawkshead. The rooms are cosy, the facilities are superb and the breakfast is great. Vanessa has a real passion for the lakes and is great at advising on what to do and where. I really recommend this place.

I've been coming here since 2019 and it was as good as ever. Vanessa is a great host and the breakfast is excellent. The rooms are clean, there is plenty of parking and easy access to Coniston and Ambleside.

This is my fifth visit and it was as good as ever. The rooms are all clean (I have stayed in 3 of them) and well laid out. Vanessa is a fantastic host and her breakfasts will fuel you for a full day in the Lakes. Hawkshead is very well positioned for getting to Coniston and Windermere. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our first stay at Waterside House on the edge of Hawkshead. Our room was ideal for us..with a big comfy bed, a separate seating area with TV and a spacious bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice. Vanessa was very welcoming and an excellent host..thank you. X

We stayed in the barn for 2 nights and enjoyed having a separate lounge to relax in. The owner, Vanessa, was warm and friendly and we felt that nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Vanessa is a lovey host who made us very welcome. Choice of breakfast is extremely varied and as we had chosen what we wanted the day before we didn't have to wait long for it. We stayed in the Barn ( as a couple but there is a bed settee in the living room so is also suitable for a small family), which is a lovely place (even has a fridge.) It's only a 10 minute walk from the centre of Hawkshead so is a perfect as a base for the shops and pubs and the wonderful walks. We had a fantastic time here and will certainly come back again. Thank you Vanessa 😊

Waterside house was in our opinion the ideal spot to stay in harwkshead, our hoist ( Vanessa ) could not ask for a better person and answered all one's questions about the area (walks, pubs,) breakfast was what ever you fancied, full English or just fruit or cereal etc. The room was clean ,comfee ,and well stocked with tea coffee etc and central heating came on at the right time ,internet was good and a decent size tv with DVD if you just want to stay in and relax we stayed in the Claife room, only downside (not for us) was if your not good with steps may be a little struggle ,would definitely stay again, if we can, this year. Would definitely recommend for a brilliant stay away from it all . Thanks again Vanessa for making us feel welcome.
