A warm Yorkshire welcome from both Julie and her sister! The Stockghyll room was excellent with great little touches such as the decanted port. Idyllic view of the waterwheel through the bay window and an excellent shower/bath; lashings of hot water! Breakfasts were spot on and even the croissants were collected locally when ordered! Amazing service. You can't ask for... More

We stayed here to 2 nights recently and is one of the best bed and breakfasts we have stayed in, Julie & Nigel were very welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the room we had was beautiful. Ambleside is a very beautiful town with fantastic walks. The b&b is in a brilliant location, smack bang in the town... More

We came here for a trip arranged and paid for by our daughters as a birthday treat for my husband and what a treat it was! The location is perfect so close to a number of good restaurants and pubs and just a short stroll to the car park. The hosts were lovely and the room charming. Plenty of tea... More

My husband and I have stayed at the waterwheel twice now, and both visits have been absolutely fantastic. The hosts Nigel and Julie are lovely and made us feel really welcome. The rooms are immaculate and perfectly decorated and the breakfast is amazing! The extra details like the homemade chocolate cake and port in the room on arrival really make... More

Beautiful guesthouse, in a great location, with friend hosts Nigel and Julie. We stayed here last year with some friends for a long weekend and had the most fabulous time. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the attention to detail is very well thought-out. The waterwheel is an old building with real charm but with all the mod cons. Breakfasts... More

We stayed here in February for a weekend's walking, and had a great time. Nigel and Julie were excellent hosts, and the room we stayed in was spotless, warm and comfortable. The bath especially was great - deep enough for non-swimmers to need their water wings, and the addition of a decanter of port in the room made for a... More

We are just leaving today and will enjoy a well prepared, hearty breakfast after a good nights sleep in our lovely room( Rhattleghyl). What makes this place is many things; some will love the decor, others the breakfast, and off course Nigel and Julie. The heart of a place is the people and this is clearly evident here. They're lovely... More
