When the snow hit hard and we were in Ambleside, we found we couldn't get back to our accommodation in Coniston. We pulled into the car park of the Cherry Garth in the hope of getting two rooms for the night. The owners were wonderful. They sorted out a room for my parents, and one for my wife, our baby... Two very friendly sisters run this b&b and serve a great vegetarian breakfast, but yes our room could certainly do with a revamp not a good look a white toilet seat on a green loo. I have to also say the step up to the bath can be quite dangerous for someone not very tall like my self especially getting... More

This must have been my 10th visit to Cherry Garth and I love it everytime! Perfect location, halfway between the lake and the town, so not far to get to many restaurants. Most rooms have views out the front of the house and look towards the Coniston mountains. Absolutley beautiful on a sunny day, and very atmospheric on a cloudy... More

The cherry garth is a tired looking shabby b&b. Over priced for the poor level of accommodation. Poor quality furniture and stained cheapish bedding is simply not acceptable for the prices charged. Breakfast good and friendly welcome but this should be taken as a given rather than something to write home about. The owners could do with some professional advice... More

Efficient B&B run by a nice family. Clean carpeted rooms dated decor but all services adequate. Easy parking - located about 500m south of Ambleside and about 800m north from steamer pier. Lots of stairs to some rooms so not recommended for bungalow dwellers. Breakfasts well-presented and decent quality ingredients - croissants not rubbery (a good indicator of serious intent... More

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it hasn't changed at all in the 4 years, which is a shame really. The room was nice enough, but the bathroom was tired and the water pressure extremely poor. But the staff are lovely and very welcoming and the breakfast was excellent. The price is reasonable and... The rooms are clean with very comfortable beds. They're homely rather than swish and up-to-date in terms of decor, bathrooms etc. The hotel owners were very accommodating in allowing us to stay just one night and book two double rooms for single occupancy at only the price for a single person. That was very impressive in the height of the... More

The breakfast was very good. Good parking space. We had a baby and they gave us lots of toys for the baby to play. I would higly recommend this hotel More

I stayed at Cherry Garth on a wet weekend's walking in the Lakes. The rooms are clean and tidy, comfortable and well- equipped. The breakfast was delicious, and the welcome one of the friendliest I've known, from local sisters who obviously understand and care about the Lakes. Fantastic location right in the centre of Ambleside- definitely a place to recommend! More

Firstly not a very warm welcome..my thought on entering the room was “very shabby, I would not stay if I had a choice“. No valance on torn bed base, bedding was clean, but stained. Ceiling tiles were polystyrene with artex pattern, the worst combination! Just looked unpleasant, the wallpaper was peeling, it had not been decorated for years, and the... More
