Literally just returned from a couple of nights away at the Queens Hotel, my brother and I booked last minute just to get away from things for a bit. I am extremely pleased that I did not look on trip advisor before we booked the hotel as I would have possibly been wary. On reading the reviews I feel it... more

I stayed here with 8 other adult men. The staff were very friendly and courteous and the food was very good. It was a very popular place for eating. The rooms are clean and have an ensuite. What more do you want? more

With a group of 8 Norwegians, on holiday in the Lake District for the first time. All well-to-do grownups (ie. quiet and well behaved). Attempted to have drinks and dinner. Problem 1: unfriendly and borderline rude service from the waiter when we choose where to sit. Not a good start, but we were hungry, and everyone is allowed to have... more

Ambleside is an ideal place to stay if you want to explore the Lake District. The little town itself has a lot to offer in the way of shops, cafes, pubs and interesting walks. We got around to a lot of beautiful places by public transport and had a great stay, even though it rained almost every day we were... more

Bedroom was cold and bathroom freezing, could also do with a refurbish. Evening meal was good but breakfast a farce with me and my wife being asked to move off a table because it was set for 3 people and sit in a freezing cold bay window. Before we had even sat down one place setting was removed from the... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of November and what can I say. DO NOT GO THERE ! You would not even let your dog stay in the rooms on offer ! Filthy !!!!!! Smelly !!!!! Abysmal !!! For £90.00 per night we are now taking them through Trading Standards and have already reported them... more

Had the misfortune of visiting the Queens yesterday. *At the bar I asked for a pint of Hawkshead bitter, to which the barman asked ' do we sell that ? ' . *Then asked for the specials menu and was given the weekend menu. *Ordered three portions of the cod & chips, which I believe were described as ' whole... more

The food and bar are excellent. The location is great. Right in the centre of Ambleside. Free parking, too if you like tight manoevering. But, and it's a big but, the room was poor. It was very small for a double, you could just about turn round in the bathroom. No one thing stands out as really bad, it's just... more

the staff were friendly, and the food was nice. however, the room was very dated, and noisy as only single glazed windows. the decoration in the bedrooms, and corridors certainly need updating, especially as it costs £86 per night on a Friday B&B. I expected a more upto date contemporary feel to the hotel, and spent all night, redesigning the... more

I feel as if I was in a different hotel to the other reviewers! This hotel is central to Ambleside, across the road from the Salutation (where we had stayed for 4 nights previously) and I was appalled by the state of the place. Yes, it was friendly, but that's where it ended. The room was a tiny double, (3m... more
