I stayed at the Drunken Duck with my partner after finding a room at late availability. We arrived on the Thursday afternoon a little jaded following a hold up due to roadworks and were greeted by a friendly welcome, a personal walk down to the room followed by delicious home-made warm scones and the best fresh chamomile tea I have... more

My husband and I loved this place, it was so warm, cosy and friendly. The fire was always roaring and people sat together in the sitting room playing games, reading, stroking the owners cats etc. The rooms are beautifully furnished and each day there is free afternoon tea, scones etc which are lovely taken in the benches outside with incredible... more

This place is gorgeous - the location is one of the best in the Lakes - but it is seriously overpriced. It is also a bit 'overdone'; i prefer my pubs to be more authentic. The very expensive room was also very small. more

We arrived about 3pm, we were shown to our room which was small but lovely. Lovely complimentary toiletries. We had afternoon tea in the bar which consisted of freshly baked scones, clotted cream and jam, along with fresh coffee and tea. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, we couldn't fault the food or the service. The breakfast was... more

Let's be clear - the Drunken Duck is a great pub - brilliant setting, wonderful beers, delicious lunch menu. However, it is not a great hotel and certainly not a great restaurant. The service was slow, the food was okay, but very overpriced as mentioned by previous reviewers, and the Manager was hardly "mein host". He seemed to find it... more

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in August on the back of recommendations and we were not disappointed, in fact the Drunken Duck exceeded our expectations. We could not fault it at all - it is a bit more expensive than your standard 'pub with rooms' but I think it is completely worth it. Dinner in the... more

On the plus side: we had a wonderful dinner at the Drunken Duck, probably the best meal we've eaten in a long time. We paid £75 for two, plus wine, which was good value for money. It's a shame they didn't warn us when we booked the room that it would be a good idea to book a time for... more

We stayed at the Duck in August, my husband booked it as a 20th anniversary surprise for me and it was wonderful! We arrived after a days walking up the mountains to be greeted extremely warmly and shown to a beautiful room, and complimentary tea (proper tea, in a pot, complete with strainer - fab!). The room was spotless, as... more

My wife and I stayed at the Drunken Duck in August. It was a special birthday treat for my wife and I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I have been going to the Duck since 1976 and have witnessed it morph from the old “walkers pub” that it was into a really special place to stay and... more

This was our second visit to the Drunken Duck. What can I say - after spending four nights in a brilliant B&B just a few miles away, then the Drunken Duck did appear to be a little lacking. I miss having complimentary tea and coffee availble at all times in the room although the afternoon tea is a bonus but... more
