Barnes Fell is a lovely traditional B&B situated within a few minutes walk of the centre of Ambleside. The rooms are light & airy, with high ceilings throughout. This was our 3rd stay at Barnes Fell, and we've had the Loughrigg room for a couple of visits, which has stunning views of Loughrigg Fell. It's about 10 minutes walk Barnes... More

This bed and breakfast is lovely. Ethna was really welcoming and very helpful. The room was immaculate and although small, well equipped and comfortable. I thought it was great value for the standard of accommodation and location. The only drawback was that my husband fell ill during our stay(this was nothing to do with the b&b). Hopefully we will return... More

This is a SUPERB place. We have all experienced paying money for a service only to be met by unfriendly, rude people. This place is the polar opposite of that as they know how to make you feel special, warmly welcome with politeness, friendliness and professionalism that scores 10 out of 10. Cleanliness throughout and comfortable bed and facilities, what... More

This fantasctic Boutique B & B, up above the quiet village of Ambleside, is a fantastic place to stay. You get a well appointed room, an extremely warm welcome from the owners and easy parking. The quick access to town is about 70 steps directly outside the front door which are fairly easy to do and take you straight into... More

Before our arrival Ethna the owner contacted us by email, allowing us to check in earlier than the 3pm stated on their website. The location is fantastic, easily accessible by car, with a reserved parking space included in the price of the room. It is set away from the main roads that run through Ambleside, meaning you have little to... More

This is a beautiful boutique B&B in a lovely location, very close to the centre of Ambleside. We were greeted by Ethna, the owner, who is such a lovely lady! We were made to feel at home in an instant. We were shown to our room, Loughrigg - which I would highly recommend - it is beautifully decorated and the... More

This is a lovely B&B just up a hill overlooking the centre of Ambleside. Only a few minutes walk into the centre. Room very tastefully decorated and bed very comfortable - the most sleep I have had for ages. Ethna the owner is very pleasant and greets you as though she has known you for ages.
