We stayed at this hotel for 1 night away and would have loved to stay longer. We checked in and were shown to our room which was beautiful. The hotel appeared to be modern but tasteful from the outside and the inside was even better. The bathroom was state of the art and the bed was massive. The room came... More

Stayed 3 nights on business; room excellent, good for working and relaxing, quiet at top/back of hotel. Had breakfasts and a room service evening meal, all good quality. One of the best hotels I've stayed in.

Two months later I'm still furious at our experience of the Townhouse. My new husband (then my fiance) had decided to book us in to the Townhouse for our wedding night in August 2011. He double checked his booking - twice - and made sure they knew we wouldn't be arriving till the very early hours of Sunday morning. This,... More

We arrived at the Townhouse hotel shortly after 3pm (check- in time), there was no one on reception to greet us and there was no bell to advise staff of our arrival; so we were left standing there for ten minutes. Upon entering our room we initially thought that we had entered the wrong room as there was a half... More

Turned up to check in after 2.00 but room was not ready until after 4.00. reasonable size of room, comfortable bed and well fitted out bathroom with power shower and spa bath but let down by not having been properly cleaned. Hair from previous occupants and an earring on the bathroom floor were still there on the second day despite... More

Ideally situated for shops, museums and the Hull Truck Theatre, all within walking distance. We parked at the nearby St Stephen's shopping centre, we got a discounted parking ticket through the hotel for £7.50. We went shopping and had lunch before booking in at the hotel which was a short walk from where we had parked. Afternoon tea was included... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Townhouse Hotel has been developed in one of Hull’s finest buildings. Originally built in 1846, when Queen Victoria commissioned it for her personal physician Sir James Anderson, it has now been lovingly restored to fulfill the requirements of today’s business and leisure traveler. Many features of the original building have been maintained, such as the sweeping staircase and ornate pillars which compliment new features such as the striking Italian marble reception. All 27 bedrooms feature a wealth of facilities including free WiFi connectivity, air conditioning, plasma screens and DVD players, laptop safes, fridges (with fresh milk as standard), tea and coffee making facilities, irons and ironing boards, Ipod docking stations, Jacuzzi style baths and power showers. Although the rooms are only based over four floors, a lift is available for those who prefer not to take the stairs. It is our aim to provide all our guests with a quality of hospitality and service seldom found in city centre hotels, and the team has been handpicked to deliver this objective. Full English breakfast is included within all room rates. For those guests wishing to take evening refreshments, a full room service menu and drinks list is available. ... more   less
