Stayed here for a business trip but it appears that this establishment is in urgent need of an update. The room was stuffy and hot, with an outside window view of overgrown greenery and wasteland. If the windows were opened then there was the constant noise during daylight hours of what sounded like a compressor. The air conditoning unit in... More

Thank you for writing a review with regard to your stay at the hotel. The Abbots Barton Hotel dates back to 1830, when it was originally built as a private home, in true Victorian Gothic style. The owners of the hotel have kept the same style in order to enhance the original features of the old building and the decor... More

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel suited us because we were traveling with our dog. The hotel is not far from the city centre and the front lawn is a good feature. The receptionist was bad. She had her speech ready but her delivery was terrible. You were left wondering why someone like this worked in the service... More

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay at the hotel. I am pleased we were able to accommodate your dog and that overall your stay was an enjoyable one. The receptionist that checked you in sends her apologies, she was not feeling too well during her shift and we did send her home to recover. Our Fountain restaurant is... More

Just spent Easter weekend at this well run Hotel, the location is just 10 minutes easy walk from the underpass which leads straight into the pedestrian area and another 4-5minites walk from the Cathedral. My single room was well furnished and spotlessly clean, the en suiite bathroom immaculately clean and with toiletries supplied, (also shoe clean, sewing kit). The hospitality tray... More

I go to this hotel normally once a week for a drink and sometimes lunch. I go most Mondays so it is a quiet time which I appreciate but they never have anyone manning the bar. I always have to ask at reception for bar service and then walk back round to the bar even though the receptionists have seen... More

Thank you for your comments. Please note that during quiet times, we do have less staff on duty. This does not mean that we compromise on our service, the hotel's duty manager will be made available to serve you. They maybe working in their office or providing service to one of the meeting rooms, this why a notice is always... More

I stayed here with my partner for one night in an Executive room. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful throughout. The room was lovely - clean, nicely furnished with a super king sized bed. The bathroom was larger than average with an excellent shower. We had our evening meal at The Fountain restaurant and were very pleased -... More

I would definitely recommend this hotel. We stayed here as part of a short visit to Canterbury. The hotel is located in a great location, only a 5-10 minute stroll from the centre. The room was possibly a little on the small side but very comfortable and we both slept very well. The staff especially on reception were very helpful... More

The hotel is comfortable and cosy with an English style. We get a family room, which was spacious and well furnished. The bathroom is very clean, and we appreciated the toiletries. Coffee and thea with cookies were available in the room. Breakfast is composed of english and continental dishes. The hotel is very well situated, at ten minutes walking distance... More

We had a deluxe room which was comfortable and adequate for our needs. Perfect location for all canterbury offers. I shopped until I dropped. Breakfast was good. We stayed on Saturday 11th Feb (Valentines's Weekend) We hadn't booked it as such but nearer the time on the website it advertised it as such (and in the lift) that dinner would be by candle light. Although we hadn't booked that, we kind of though some tables would have candles on them - NO!!! - nothing at all to... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the hotel. I apologise for your dissapointment on the 11th February with regard to your evening meal. True, the hotel had a wedding taking place and we did have a slight delay on all the guests sitting down for the function. The restuarant was not very busy on that... More

This is a converted Victorian Gothic manor, which has been clumsily extended and updated. The place is a poorly signed warren, and attempts to make the new part look "authentic" are poorly executed, and choices such as having a windowless dining room simply don't work. I was in a single room which was adequate, but with poor attention to detail... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the hotel. The Abbots Barton Hotel is a Gothic building and was built in 1830 as a private house. The new part (bedrooms & restaurant) have been designed to complement the exsisting building. The function room which looks out onto the lawn, was added in the 1930's. All the... More
