We walked into the Old Vine on the off chance they had a table for lunch today and they did. What a find! The bar and restaurant were almost full at 12.30 and we were very lucky to get a table. The staff were very friendly, the food was excellent, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. For the whole time we... More

Dear guest, thank you for your review, it's always a great pleasure to hear feedback from guests who have enjoyed their visits to the Old Vine. The bar and restaurant do fill up very quickly, particularly at weekends, so we would recommend getting to the Old Vine as soon as possible after 12 noon (when lunch service starts) to avoid... More

We had lunch at The Old Vine this last Saturday. Four adults. Service was friendly and drinks were served quickly. The ales were good. We ordered starters of chorizo patatas bravas, a feta salad and calamari. All three were fantastic and well cooked, particularly the chorizo dish, which was delicious. However, our main courses were more disappointing. Two of us... More

Dear guest, thank you for your honest and comprehensive review. I'm sorry that you were disappointed with the cod and chips on your visit. The cod fillets are delivered whole and fresh to us from our fishmonger on a daily basis, and the chef then skins the fish and cuts the fillets into portions for the day. They are not... More

We stayed in nine B&B's during a two week tour of England's countryside. This one had the biggest, best appointed room of all of them. Since I'm traveling with my brother, we booked twin rooms. Ours at The Old Vine had two large double beds--a bonus! Their service was tremendous. We had problems with our TV and James came to... More

Dear Guest, thanks for the lovely review, I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay with us, and that you appreciated the standard and comfort of the Nina Campbell twin room. I'll pass on your compliments to both members of staff you mentioned in your review, thank you for paying recognition to their hard work. The breakfast is served in courses rather... More

I had dinner in the old vine in winchester which was fish dish and lasagna. I also had a beautiful cheesecake. The portion size was medium to large and well priced. the staff are very helpful and attentive. It is a very busy place so you may need to book on a Friday and Saturday night. The old vine is... Dear Guest, thanks for the review, I'm pleased to see that you enjoyed your visit. Booking is advisable as the Old Vine can be busy at any time during the week, including weekends. The mixed nuts that you enjoyed are from a wholesale distributor called Welco Foods - not sure if they sell to the public, but it's worth a... More

During a long weekend in Winchester, we thought we'd try the Old Vine as we've heard great things about it. We certainly weren't disappointed! The service was excellent, the food superb and reasonably priced! I can definitely recommend the Old Vine but would suggest you book first...lots of people turned up ad-hoc when were there and couldn't be accommodated!

Dear Guest, thanks for your feedback, it's always a pleasure to hear positive experiences of the Old Vine. It's certainly a good tip to book ahead, as The Old Vine is only a small venue, and gets busy very quickly, particularly at weekends. We hope to welcome you back in the future. More

We spent two nights at the Old Vine in April staying in the Design Suite. The room is beautifully decorated with a lovely view over the cathedral green and plenty of space to lounge about. Dinner in the restuarant was excellent and breakfast served in our rooms was delicious (and huge!). The location could not be better for a weekend... More

Dear Guest, thank you so much for the lovely review, I'm very pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. What an excellent lunch of warm Crab gratinee with new potatoes and salad followed by, to die for lemon curd ice cream and vanilla panna cotta. Such a good atmosphere - really busy. Returned to The Old Vine and this time just dining as I have family dog and Parental birthday treat as reason. A special member of our party- Benjamin- was made so welcome by Katy and pre-arrangement emails from Belinda, and THANK YOU for that. My partner and I stayed here for a night due to it being smack bang between the two places we lived at the time. Lovely oldy worldy charm. Clean and dust free. Lovely coffee and decent breakfasts. We are returning at the end of the month :)

I'm delighted to see that you enjoyed your stay. I know what you mean about the staircase - it's an original 17th-century construction, so it is a bit wonky now - you don't want to climb them after too many glasses! Thanks for the review More
