Plus point: fabulous location. Car park might be a plus, except that you have to pay for it - and you could get a public car park for a similar price. But how they could have got planning permission for such an ugly building on the cathedral grounds beggars belief! It's better (marginally) inside - possiblly the 70s spiral staircase... more

Overpriced, shabby, under trained rude staff, v poor food which is cold in any event, no sat tv as advertised. Just a hotel to be avoided. more

I stayed a couple of nights at the Wessex Hotel and wasn't particularly impressed. Stayed at the Wessex for Friday and Saturday night. Arrived at around 9.30pm obviously too late for dinner so decided to have a drink in the bar.
