5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2013 NEW

The White Star provided our evening for a friend with a brilliant twist. They put a custom made, never before sold menu together as a special for the soon to be married stag! The food was amazing. It's a good sign if you get a chocolate fondant that is melt in the middle (especially if there are 10 of you!)... More

Stopped here for an excellent lunch with some girl friends on Sunday. The staff were excellent, very friendly & helpful, they even made us some non alcoholic cocktails which weren't on the menu, heated up the baby food & provided a vegetarian roast which wasn't on the menu. We had an excellent meal with the most delicious yorkshire puddings! I... More

Salmon Fillet was absolutely stunning. Pork loin with potatoe cake stuffed with black pudding wss incredible. Service wss good friendly and relaxed. Live band to end the meal was atmospheric even if slightly loud. A wonderful lazy sunday lunch.

Stopped here for lunch whilst walking around Old Southampton. Good choice on restaurant menu, with some daily specials. good value and excellent service. Also has a bar menu for pub part of the Tavern. Plus has an outside terrace, when the weather permits! Would like to try the rooms sometime.

It was pleasing to read your posted review following your dining experience in our Restaurant at the beginning of April 2013. I am pleased that you felt that the choice on our menu was very good and that you were also impressed with the choice on our 'Late Additions'. You did mention that you would 'like to try our rooms... Stayed here for a Saturday night while doing a boat coarse at Ocean Village. Very handy location and clearly in the action of central/old town Southampton. Lively pub with attentive and very friendly staff. Very busy and quite feisty after 10'ish but locals appeared to be enjoying themselves. Food was acceptable, our one complaint on the food was dealt with... More

Stayed here overnight ahead of a cruise holiday– thoroughly recommend staying the night before as it meant a leisurely morning and ease of access to the cruise terminals. Alert bar staff found the manager on duty just after we arrived and then we were shown upstairs through a coded door to the reception area for check-in. I wish I could... More

I don't like the term Gastro Pub, but this is what the White Star bills itself as. The atmosphere is lively, and the music a little loud. The food is good by pub standards and the staff are friendly and helpful. The food and drink are reasonably priced. Probably not a place for a quiet dinner for two - but... More

Although White Star seems to get a lot of good reviews for the pub and the food, there aren't as many reviews for the accommodation. This review is for the accommodation. I thank you for your constructive feedback, following your stay in June 2012. Although this is listed as a hotel there is a very popular tavern attached to this hotel. My husband and I had lunch here recently.
